Question What is my setup missing?

.......besides a skilled drag racer

relevant stuff:

tanabe coilovers
gotham short shifter
Spec sprung 6 puck disc with lightened pressure plate
cryoed PPF
cryoed TII diff
4.3 gears
RP solid diff bushings
RE toe links and trailing arms
MT ET streets in 26x10.5x16 on stock rear wheels.

my axles are stock, and the 300M axles aren't in the budget right now. Anything I'm missing?

Flywheel scatter shield.
Driveshaft Loop.
Aftermarket axles.
3 inch studs.
Roll bar.
Battery kill switch.
If you've moved your battery it needs to be in a legally sealed box.
Firejacket
Helmet Snell 2000 and above

You need all of this just to run 11.99-11.00 if you want to be legal.....

The new times are 11.49 and slower need a rollbar since 2005.

Your stock axles should hold up... they eventually fail under hard launches and lots of power.

Jodeny (username) sells them for something like $530 for the 300M units.

You're right about the roll bar. He still needs everything else to pass tech.

if you are doing an event. for test and tune sessions, most strips dont really check anything. not Tulsa or Thunder Valley anyways

Yeah, I should have said up front I mainly want to get some timeslips, the main reason I would want to compete is to get my mazdacomp membership.

Of course, out in OK people driving around without insurance is commonplace, so I'm not surprised they are lax out at the strip. It was the same way in TX back when I was stationed at Fort Hood for five years. Here in the northeast I'll bet the rules and regulations are more stringent.

In NJ englishtown is very very strict, even for time trials. If you run in the mid 11s, you will need to get a rollbar. They will give you a few chances and then ban you. After a few 11sec passes, they will ask you to come up to the tower for your timeslip before they ban you.

The easiest way to get your mazdacomp membership is to go to an NHRA sanctioned event. You are lucky since the next one is in May, I sent you the link in another post in the NE forum.

You go to the event and simply run on Saturday for qualifying. NHRA then posts the times and your name and car on their website. All you need to do from there is send mazdacomp that link and you are all set, that is how I became a member.

Here is an example of the link I sent them, I ran a 12.1 that day.

It just depends where you live, unfortunately my local track treats every test and tune night like it was a pro modified nhra event. And they wonder why people street race!!!!

ET Streets??? You better have three hands to drive that car!!! two for the steering wheel and one for shifting! :-)

If I were you, I would switch to drag radials. I personally don't think you're ready for ET streets. but what do I know?? like last time I told you not to drive aggressive in a solo driving school and you ended up in the ditch. :-P

Rich,
You may want to give Ray Wilson a call about your scattershield. He's in the process of making mine right now. Im sure it wouldn't be a problem to make two.
As for what else you need......A BIG hairdryer would surely help!

I'm going to try and make it. I am trying to decide if I want to run on slicks, DRs, or street tires.....

A friend of mine only lost .05 seconds switching from ET streets to MT Drag Radials....I have ET Streets on stockers as well, but will be switching over to the MT DR's just to keep the car more civil and streetable for the trip back home. Plus you can say you ran X amount of time on radials which just sounds better to me, kind of like having a pump gas car compared to a race fuel only car.

I have a set of the MT Drag Radial for sale. I used them 2 or 3 times. I would rather a trade for a set of ET Streets of equal wear if anyone is interested.

Thanks,

Anthony

Mothers in Lodi is supposed to have one in there for me tomorrow so we'll see what happens.

Thanks!

Didnt you post that you found you're breaking more components with the DRs vs the ET streets (and that's why you're making the switch)?

I already tried those two links a few months back with no luck. Paradise never got back with me after numerous calls and the other place doesn't make them anymore. Same as you........

i say u go with ET streets. From what i ahve read 1)you get better 60 times with them and 2) they are easier on the rear. sounds like a no brainer to me.

Anyways....right now who cares about et.....lets see some trap speed.
