Whats wrong, cant use the motor God gave ya to run your water pump?
I'd never thought about going that route, but it seems like a more cost effective way of getting the same results as a external pump.
Plus you can make up all kinds of stories to tell people who ask questions.

As you may know, a water pump at high rpm's can use as much as 20hp. Since that is my only powerband, it helps me out alot.

This is a Moroso kit for american muscle cars- cost- 90 bucks.

Cost for external electric pump, hoses, adaptors, etc- major bucks $$$$$.
The only benefit that the external electric pump has is saving a few pounds in weight as the cast iron waterpump and housing is pretty heavy.

The way that I went is definetly more cost effective in a big way.

Any idea how many amps it draws? How'd you figure out what rpm/pulley diameters to use?
I think this would be a really cool setup, but I dont know how much I trust it on anything other than a drag car.
Kudos for thinking outside the box.

You don't want to use this type of setup on the street. This is for drag racing use only. I forget the amp draw but the motor spins the water pump at 1500rpm's. Remember the slower the water passes through the radiator the more heat is pulled out. Also, don't give me credit for thinking about this as this has been used by drag racers for many many years.

Took my car to my local 8th mile track last night and I ran my best ever of 7.56 at 89mph with a 1.50 60ft. I carried the front wheels for a good distance. I beat 2 nova's and I was about 1/2 car length from beating a full tubbed mavrick with a big block. hehehe
Vids coming soon.

Converting force to power, losing energy to voltage drop, converting power back to force? Am I missing something? Isn't this the same thing as clutch vs Efan?

I have a switch for my electric drive water pump. I turn off the water pump after my burnout and then make a pass, therefor my motor is only running the alternator and the waterpump is bypassed. After my pass, if needed I just hit the switch to turn the water pump back on. Get it now? I could eliminate the alternator as well, but then I would have to charge the battery all the time and I don't have the patience for that.

noferz- thanks, I should have the vids up on Sunday. I have to work all day tomorrow.

Yeah, I got the wheels up pretty good on the first pass. I need to get my 60fts down in the 1.4's or 1.3's. I just haven't had much time to mess around with the suspension yet. It is bone stock right now. Here' a vid of one of my runs at an IDRC event where I got the wheels off the ground in second gear. It's at 1.12 in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKDZ-...eature=related.

Good luck on your next runs and keep me posted.

Thanks, I just need to practice shifting faster. The car/motor has been really consistant and reliable, so I am very pleased with that. This motor has been running for almost 2 years now without skipping a beat. For all those who say rotary engines are not reliable go stuff it.

Thats what I call reliable , its all in the clearences. If someone put an engine with nothing but worne out parts and not clearencing what can they expect, catastrophe every time. Thats why they say the rotary are not reliable its not the engine its them

Yeah, I spent about 6hrs on clearancing all my seals on 600 grit and a granite level slab. It's a pain in the ***, but if you do it right the engine will last longer and have more compression.
