Well, my personal fd got caught up somewhere between a drag car, road race car, and dd so I decided to get another FD chassis.

The chassis is rough to say the least but the price was right.

This car will be ran 1/8th mile more than anything esle, unfortunately the closest 1/4 mile track is over 2 hours away. I have a little one on the way so the thought of being able to travel isnt likely so will be sticking with 1/8th for the majority.

Have some questions for you guys.

Cheapest place for Bogarts and what backspacing do I need for stock fenders, any places sell good package deals for the wheels and tires?

What brakes are some of you guys running? Looked at the Aerospace that Allrotor has for sale and was wondering what my other light weight options were?

Not shooting for 5s but would love to see some mid 6s/mid 10s but want the car to be reliable.

Should be a fun journey.

 

If 6's and 10's are the goal dont waste your $ on Bogarts and fancy brakes the stockers will be fine. ET streets on back and your choice on skinny's. Not saying they dont look great. In fact for the 1/8th you could just run the stockers all around with et streets and street radials up front as the scary ride doesnt start till past the 1/8th mile mark.

Besides, 10's are so last year. Got to go for low 6's and 9's now!

But the Bogarts and Brakes make me look fast even if I never go fast.

 

Consider ET streets on stock wheels to be your ticket. To get the same performance, or only slightly better will cost you 4x that, and won't be necessary for your goals. I did what Sk8world did on my FC, ET streets on stock FD wheels, and Firestone coker bias plies on spares up front. May not win a looks contest, but it will more than do the job.

Brakes? What are they for, the race is over by the time you use them anyways!

This chassis is long sold. I have another FD I am building for myself at the moment. Ill be happy with 10s on pump gas.

Having a kid is a complete game changer, forget how expensive it is, you have no time. I dont see how some of you guys do it. Either you have understanding wives or are to the point in your marriage where you just dont care.

Side money fool! You have the perfect set up since you have a 2 income job. One check you gladly hand to the wife the other you hide and spend on your car!!!!!! Then late at night whe everyone is asleep is when you do your car work and the wife cant see the pretty new parts you keep putting on.

Kids rock and do slow the game down but its all worth it. They grow up so quick. Try to get them to like cars and it will make it easier to get back into playing. My one boy wants a "CREW CHIEF" shirt now... So the plan is paying off!
