Running a 9second pass..........
Now you ruined it for everyone. Pretty soon there will be no more teasing and no more questions... At this point a decent camera person is mandatory. I nominate T.S. lol

Just read an interesting article in racepages about how progressive boost controllers are used in the nmra bfg drag radial cars to keep power to the ground. Power output in a turbo car is not linear like a supercharger and the top nmra racers were saying that if boost controllers were gone, so would the turbo cars because they would not be able to lay all that power to the ground.
I don't know what type of boost controllers they are using, but it would be worth some research esp when you've upwards of 800hp.
You will probably get better advice on dialing in your setup from the turbo mustang crowd. They seem to have figured out how to control that massive HP while keeping those street tires planted.

I doubt the mustang crowd is going to teach us anything. The only reason the keep the tires panted is because 90% of v8 turbos have auto tranmissions.
I would say the domestic crowd has learned a lot from us imports in the turbo department. Cause they are tired of getting there 383 strokers with 150 shot ownd by a h22turbo civics. LOL

Some things never change.

Even seen a mustang plant 2500 HP down on a 10.5" tire and a 5 speed?

The few turbo domestics in my town are all automatic except about 2. One of the exeptions being a 1200hp+ FORD GT TT
Eveything i say is from personal experience. Things i have seen with my own eyes and through my life growing up as a racing fan.
Im not saying turbo mustangs owners dont know anything. Im just saying import guys have been toying with turbos a lot longer.
Maybe what im saying is the import crowd broke the cypher when it comes to turbo tech. The domestics are following.
A mustang guy would tell you to put a 9" ford rear end because hit IRS it not meant for this. LOL thats what im saying.
2 completely diff cars With 2 extremely diff powerplant/powerbands.
Stick to asking rx7 owners for advice.

Yes, very sophisticated setups and we have more in common with them than some here think. Carefull control over the powerband throughout the run (not just the launch) is, IMHO, the secret to keeping a car together and on the track.
I was thinking about how nitrous guys carefully set each stage so not to overpower the tires and how this could be done in a car such as ernie's. Motec or Pactel might have speed or time based staged boost control.
The resident EFI gurus will have to comment on that...
Funny that some people think that imports "invented" the turbo when both GM and Ford had production turbocharged sports cars in the late 70s.

Seems most (inc. Dan Millan) are using the AMS500 two stage or the 6 stage AMS1000. The 1000 has time or shift based staging each with adjustable ramp rate--all for a mere $850. Anybody use one of these?

Ha oh man, I've been an import fan my whole life but I'm not even going to start to tell you how ignorant you sound with comments like that.
Now stop with the BS in Ernie's thread.....

Agreed! ^^ He needs to go back to the drift section.
hi all we have now run a 9.3 @145mph this was done on 1.47 bar of boost.we think the t51 exhaust compressor is holding our flow up anyone now of a bigger rear housing and were to get one.
we are finally getting closer to the irs record
the record is going to come to the uk when we turn up the boost

I guess we are all going into battle for the IRS record,I am going for it too.I am building one as we speak and using some of my old setup form my turbo 3 to do it.
We just pick up an FD shell for a Steal deal and we decided to go into action just like that.Hope to have the car running in a few months.I am doing the NHRA spec cage
this weekend.I will need some ernie t axles and call it a day.

It sure is becoming the big thing right now.
My "IRS" car should be running soon as well.> I'm closing the doors at my shop in the next few weeks and not taking any more cars so i can finish my car...
