Not quite sure what you mean... Are you referring to to metal plate that's attached to the front-end?

The car has a standard, factory dimension front-end unlike other cars in the class. The other cars have a maximum front overhang of 45" as per NHRA rules, so Sporty, Brent Rau and others added the plate to make up for their shorter front-end. They stage with the tires and from then on, all other beams are tripped with the front-end or in their case, the plate.

That's nothing new... I've seen it on V8 cars many years ago. It's 100% legal and it saves you from making a few front-end

What is the fastest/quickest side-by-side 13B (or any rotarys) pass? I'd think these would have to be very near the top.

I'm living proof of that... Low lit pit area + metal plate = bruised shin :-(

So then all the beams are tripped BEFORE the front wheels even pass by them.

Sounds a little devious to me

Car stages with front wheels
60ft, 330ft, 1/8, 1000ft & 1/4 beams are tripped with the front end or plate in their case..

It would be pointless to have it any other way. Rules state max frontend over hang of 45 inches. Car has standard front, so plate was added to "extend" front end to max legal limit. Sounds simple to me. It saves you from building a whole new front end just to run in that 1 specific class.

Sporty has been running really strong since they brought the guy in from the states to do the clutch work.
