12a is still the number one choice for me as far as motors go.

I love the 12a too but good luck finding parts like good housings without paying an arm and a leg. I wonder how much it costs to machine 13b housings to 12a specs? Does anyone know? That would be a beast of a 12a motor using machined 13b rotor housings to 12a specs and using Cosmo irons with a custom intake manifold.I bet my left nut that's what these guys are using.

That's what I am working on right now. If you use 86+ plates, no need to machine the water jacket grooves either. Makes it much easier.

The reason I started working on this is because I have so many 13b housings that would be beautiful if I could mill off a little from each side to get rid of the flaking. I am building a Jig now to do this. Just finished up my PP jig

Yeah, all you would need to do is mill 5mm from each side of a 13b housing and use the irons you mentioned. PPort would be even easier because you don't have to mess with a custom intake manifold.

Crazy how 12a parts so expensive. How about early 12a parts 74. Are they sought after? I have a 74 engine just sitting around.

I heard through the grapevine Jim Mederer(Racing Beat) did a 12A with cosmo plates many years ago for a road race team..and yes I have connections to machined 13B housings to 12A specs.

Ito, I bet that combo with one of your bridgeports would run like a stripped *** ape.

I don't believe milling them alone would put them withing tolerance. They would need to be milled down very close on a very well indexed mill, then placed on a surface grinder to complete the job. This will get you within .0001 instead of .001 with a very nice surface finish.

^Do you know the machining process they used? Wonder if it's different from how I am planning on doing it?

The way I am doing it will work very well, it's just very time consuming. I was also going to mill off the 13b and engrave something there.

You should be able to take it to a machine shop that resurfaces cylinder heads. It just has to be square and 70mm width. Should be a piece of cake for most shops.
