My first proper Drag Competition HKS Drag Series
My first rookie year in entering a proper Drag racing series in the UK.
I didnt expect to go far in my class for the first round as there is quite tough opposition. 8 cars in the class.
I managed two qualification passes to put me second on the ladder.
Then came the first elimination round against a 800bhp 200sx(s14). Cut a good light for me 0.201 reaction time, but then bogged, managed to recover and spool up quickly, kept my nose in front and win.
Next came the second elimination round for a place in the final. This time up against a blue R34 Skyline with approx 600bhp. We staged, lights go Yellow the guy already launches and then I launch but notice the red light shining bright in his lane, I coast over the line for the win. Nice and easy.
Then comes to the final against my friend James in his Rx7 an experianced racer, he has over 600hp with a PB of 9.98 he set earlier that day. It was going to be very hard to beat him. I let him stage first, I then stage build the revs up then launched, another good light for me 0.283 reaction time and I beat him off the line and to the 60ft, Im still leading up to the 8th mile, could I win it?, but then he drives past me at the 1000ft and he wins. he ran a 10.9 @ 134 to my 11.3 @118
I was only running 0.9 BAR (13psi) all day as I didnt want to break and just gain experiance at real racing. Next round will be upping the boost
Here as some pics my friend Kash took of the different classes and the pics of the Street class Final I was in, I am in the right hand lane, you can see I made a good start

this vid here is my friend Gary having a crash at the end, very sad but he is ok, the track was very difficult and not sticky enough at top end, track prep and sharing the track with street tires cars ripping up the surface stickyness

Nice runs and im sorry about the crash, he lost it at 130+ mph. If possible, I would like to see some pics of the car after the crash. If you don't want to post them can you email me them at anthonynyc@gmail.com. I am curious how the cage held up and how the harness etc held.
I'm sure he was ok but I want to know how the safety equipment on the car held up.
Thanks,
Anthony

I will see if he will take pics of the inside, but speaking to him after the accident and having a peek at it, the actual cage has not moved but the actual shell has moved around it.
So safety equipment has done its job and saved his life. Here are some pics of the exterior.

Hey, where's my pic and video credit, Blitzen hahaha? How come it's only Kash who gets mentioned in despatches lol .
You should update this thread dude, finishing top four in your first "pro" year is an achievement to be proud of, especially with all the breakages and setbacks you've had, mate .
More vids of UK RXs on the drag strip available on my YouTube channel for anyone who's interested, since Blitz posted half of em up anyway lol http://www.youtube.com/user/GreekDaNik?feature=mhum

The last round was a washout though.
Waiting for some pictures being sent to me, so I will post up some more pics later this week

I'm afraid I haven't got many more decent pics or videos from this years' competition because a) my car was bust for a lot of the year and didn't get to all the rounds and b) half the rounds I did get to were rained off. Here's one from the Fast Show in 2009 that I was fairly pleased with, shows Blitzboy's car in it previous livery but illustrates rather well how hard a drag tyre works for a living!
One from this years' Fast Show showing the new Old One Racing livery
