the MILE!

anyone have any experience running the standing mile?what kind of trap and ET were you layin down?

ive been thinking about building my t2 up for the standing mile.what kind of power do u guys think i would be needing to break into the 190-200mph area?

wow !!!!!!! good **** , i have a buddy that was really involved in that sort of stuff and i actually got to see some of it last year its unreal . best of luck

Scoot from japan,The guy that owns the well known 4 rotor FD,
Did a speed test a couple of years back in New Zealand if i may recall with
his Red 93 FD and the crazy rear side covers for the rear tires and i think he ran a
310+KPH(200 Mph) on a mile stretch ,it that was filmed by option videos.By the way he drives this car on the streets.He runs a street port/peripheral port desing.
(Semi P-Port).

I know because he came to visit me at my shop a few year ago to stay and show him round town.He is a really queit smart guy.He actually tried to run his 4 rotor FD on the same Mile stretch but wasn't happy about it..


This is his engine setup.Before the 4 rotor.

Hey Rene.
Now that you mentioned Scoot a few years ago I remembered a guy that came from Japan with a red FC TurboII. I believe the name on the car was 'Y's Engineering'. Do you remember or know if that guy or his car is still around?

Which particular event are you talking about?
There are a couple of different one mile events and the way in which it's done or measured also.

im intrested in the texas mile,since im in texas.standing mile.a month or 2 back a well known local shop hennessey motorsports broke 225mph in the event in their +1100hp twin turbo competition coupe viper.i doubt ill be goin that fast.but it would be nice to make it to 190.

i am very interested in running something similar...

i believe there is an event in the Carolinas as well as the Texas Mile and then there is the Silver State Classic in Nevada. i am planning to run it in 07 in Sep. they run 2 a year.... May and Sep. 90 miles of two lane road. that's what the FD was designed for.

BTW, top speed is accurately factored by frontal area and drag coefficient.

the FD has 19.26 sq feet frontal area, and call the drag coefficient .3 ........

you take the frontal area times the drag coefficient times the speed CUBED divided by 146,000. that gives you the rear wheel hp necessary to run the speed you entered. you must also add 11% for driveline and 60 more hp for tire rolling resistance. (as per Carroll Smith Tune to Win)

so to drive an fd to 200 mph do the numbers and you find you need 410 rwhp.

note that the speed is cubed.... that means that the requirement to drive the car increasingly faster starts to almost go vertical.

for instance 200 is 410. 225, which is 12.5% more speed requires 36% more power.

faster gets even more crazy. sure sounds fun.

i imagine ill need alot more than that,since 410whp at 200 is topping it out.im trying to do it within 1 mile.

I saw that vid a while back from the option speed records that was insane nutty fast. Good stuff right there

Y's engineering

The y's engineering car was here in Cali for a period of 1year before he headed back to Japan.He was sponsored by Kaaz differentials,that car was kick ***.

His car was very impressive,I also believe he was the first FC that i have known at the time to go low 9.3 sec passes with a stock chassis and modifed stock tranny.
At that time he was running an simple FD engine setup very with an HKS turbo.

I got to race him side by side at an event,he scared the **** out me because he cut a
light on me and i just bearly had him in the top end by a fender.

There was a big sitution at the end of the race when Y's engineering car was discualifed for not having a proper NHRA license.I felt bad for that guy cuase
all the other driver's complained "he is not legal".

This car kicked all the pist-on power cars that day with no practice,no tuning and showing up from the sea-port withing hours of the big race.WOW.

I talked to him about 2 years ago and he plans to come again someday when he has enough money.

Yep that's the guy. I actually raced against him at a race in Texas and that's where I met him also for the first time. The issue about his license came up at that race also but it was not due to being protest by other racers but more to by the track officials. That day I had to convince the officals that his international racing license at the time was just as good. It worked and he got to race.
