Let's see pictures of your roll bar/cages

Seeing as how light RX7s are and with about 400ish horsepower they can run the 1/4 mile in the 11's or quicker. I know there's got to be a bunch of you out there that has a roll bar/cage. Let's see some pictures!!!

Here's mine while I was still working on it. Main hoop was purchased, pre-made for a 1G Talon/Eclipse, almost perfect fit.

Really thats NHRA approved?? I thought they required a 6 point with a bar that goes across the front doors? I'm asking as I'm trying to gather for info before I have mine done.

I had a friend help me who had the pipe bender and TIG, the main hoop was around $60, and the rest of the materials altogether maybe $250? I can't remember, it's been a few years. It's mild steel, which is a lot less in cost than chromoly.

FYI the main hoop is a competition engineering pn C9405, made for eagle talon, all it needed was a bit of spreading at the base to fit tightly against the b-pillars. Saved a lot of time fitting a pipe from scratch!

NHRA requires a door bar to cross the driver between the shoulder and elbow I believe. Don't need one on the passenger side though.

Great thread.

I still havent built my cage, but one angle I wanted to go with it was to build it to the minimum NHRA specs...figure I'm trying to save weight. On the other hand, Ari told me that a well built cage can strenghten the chassis so much as to offset the added weight with better launching and still manage faster times than without the cage. Still undecided.

Here's a gif of the cage specs from NHRA.

I dont see how any cage can manage 5" above the helmet without hacking out the roof or dropping the seat below the floor.

Does anyone know if there are rules regarding the amount of angle allowed in the side bars?
The 5 point wouldnt be so bad if you had it drop down immediately and run along the side bolsters.

Muh, over here (east coast), as long as you have a decent cage your g2g. The Obvious things do apply so the cage can serve a purpose. EX. your head 2in below the bar with your helmet on.

The 5" is max distance (vertical) between top of main hoop and rear brace. Again, I'm pretty sure the NHRA require the sidebars to pass the driver's body between the shoulders and elbows or something similar, and has to go to the front by the a-pillar floor. Nothing said about angle AFAIK
