High Boost - Boost control

Guys,

I would like to hear what you guys are using to control boost over 30psi. I've been using the greddy profec B with an upgraded spring but can't seem to get more than 30psi.

I then switched to the manual controller, the greddy TVVC and getting as much boost as I want but it fluctuates, I get less in 1st gear but more in the higher gears.

Some local guys are using CO2 but not sure how well that works. If you're running 30psi or more what are you using and how well is it working for you? Can anyone comment on the CO2 boost control?

Thanks,

Anthony

High boost solenoid with the ECU controoling it or a manual valve from the local Home dpeot. Both methods result in rock solid boost to about 51psi. With the TiAL wastegates normally you can double the spring pressure. I do not have good luck withthe Greddy MBC on high boost applications.

Supposedly I am running a 22 psi spring but it opens sooner with the profec off so I think I am running a 15psi spring.

I took my wastegate off the car and when I put pressure in it, I see the shaft leaks air, not sure how much that would impact me but I also tried a brand new tial in the same test and no leaks on the shaft.

How can I do this? Do you get the same boost in 1st gear as you would in 4th?

Thanks for the info.

Depends on the boost level in 4th!
Boost level in 1st gear is normally limited to what the turbo is capable of producing. Due to the low level of load in 1st gear it's what you get what you run. You can close the wastegate and still get more in a higher gear than you would in lower gears. It's all application based.
I can get 40 psi in all gears if I wanted to. The difference would be how the boost ramps up.
As for proper boost control there are many electronic boost controllers out there that can acheive different boost rates and ramp up based on speed/gear/time etc. Couple that with a CO2 bottle and you'll have the ultimate boost controller.

This website has some c02 items you can peice together for your c02 boost controller. If you want to use the eletronic boost controller you'll need a EBC that uses 2 solenoids AMS1000 or Innovative boost controller etc. You can use the TVVC and the C02 also.

AMS1000: http://www.nlrsystems.com/2007_catalog.htm

Summit and Jegs also have c02 bottles etc...

Anthony,
Russ Turner, owner of PowerTrain Control Solutions, has a great boost controller. Will accurately control boost beyond 50psi. We're not going up that high so no matter, but its dead money. So go get it!!

anyone have experience with the Apex'i AVC-R in these high boost applications? It uses the same Denso solenoid as the Greddy though. I wonder if it's the solenoid that is the limiting point, or just Greddy's control logic? AVC-R lets you have a more precise duty cycle map.
