hahah, 12.1 @ 124Mph on street tires - GT35/40 @ 15.5psi

Went to the track today, 60 degrees, humid (about to rain all day, but never more than a few sprinkles at the track).

When I was leaving my house to drive to the track, it looked like certain rain (actually rained on my way there, but was mostly dry at the track), so I left the ET street at home in the garage and went out on my street tires -- 255x35x18 Toyo Proxy's.

Went 12.2 @ 115Mph @ 10psi
Followed up with a 12.1 @ 124Mph @ 15.5psi
Turned up the boost to 17 psi and smoked my ACT S/S clutch...Clutch has only 5000miles on it and 10 passes at the track on my old motor (380rwhp). Clutch is supposed to be good for 400ftlbs of torque, ya, I'm probably over that @ 17psi...

guess it's time for a 4 or 6 puck now...

All in all I was happy with my trap speeds, was cutting nice easy 2.3 - 2.5 60's then letting it rip...would have liked to have seen an 11 second pass on my street tires, but I'll have to be happy with the traps for now.

**** man, I'm chasing ErnieT, looking for 10's. He trapped 128Mph on 20psi, I trapped 124Mph on 15.5psi (course he has a stock motor and mine is pineapple powered...heheheh)

LSD, PPF, new clutch, ET Streets, more boost, more practice... then I'll see some #'s I'm happy with!!!

Excellent trap speed with that 60 ft. I remember on stock twins my best trap speed was 117-118 mph on street tires at 12.07 sec. My 60 ft was 1.9 sec!

You have quite a bit of improvement yet to make on street tires with those 60 ft times you quoted.

Too bad I smoked my clutch, I'd have liked to have seen a 130Mph trap @ 17 - 17.5psi.

next trip!

what kind of 60 ft times and RT did you post?

What kind of rear end are you using on your car? If it's still the stock one, I am very impressed

a 4 or 6 puck isn't gonna hold up much better. you should go to a twin plate.

Thanks for the complements guys...

1FooknTiteFD - Stock rear end...Kaaz on order along with a PPF.

I was babying it off the line since Vosko and Ihor got me scared to dump the clutch as they both busted their rear diff in the past 2 - 3 weeks, I didn't want to be the bad luck that ran in 3's.

My best 60' was 2.1, most of them were 2.3 - 2.4...LOL

It is hard to launch an FD with nearly 500rwhp, you think you've hooked, so put the throttle down and BAMM! breakloose and bounce the (9000rpm) rev limiter...

lv - A/F's were low 11's, high 10's. I had the car dialed in for near perfect 11.8's in the 30degree weather and it warmed up to 60 yesterday...my intake temp v/s inj maps need a bit more work, but I didn't have time to mess with the correction factors yesterday... knew I was save so I just ran...

fdracer - the Act S/S is only rated for 400ftlbs of torque, there are versions of both the 4 and 6 puck rated at 577ftlbs of torque. Since this is 95% street car I'm not sure I'm ready for a twin plate...

K

You have the KAAZ on order, are you also planning on changeing your 4:10's out for some 4:33's? Since you are already in there. What PPF? Mazdaspeed? I am asking so much since next spring I am hoping to replace my Toe Links, Trailing Arms, Axles, PPF, Differential, and gear ratio. But I am debating to wait for it to break then replace it or just replace it before it ever becomes a problem. I have been reading about Vosko's and Ihor's problems, and like you, my car is a daily driver with a BNR Race Port and a T78. I still am waiting to order the turbo though. Buying a new house and all. So as long as I am racing before Spring.

Love your car man. Scott

With 500rwhp think about going away from 4.1. Not 4.33, just means more wheelspin. Maybe 3.9 or whatever JIMLAB ends up cutting for his monster. He's looking at 2.9 to 3.24 gears.

I plan on attending the shootout but i'm also worried about smoking my stock LSD. I may not be putting down 500rwhp (400rwhp only) but getting stuck at the track sucks. Did you baby the clutch as well? I have a feeling that or the LSD is next to go. As far as my PPF I'm already taking it out now and in the middle of Fabricating reinforcement gussets which I'm going to weld in this week.

Nice MPH nocab! With that MPH you are looking at low 11s easy with traction!

With the clutch, I would look at a twin plate for sure. I had an RE Amemiya twin plate in my car and drove it on the street for a year and a half plus did 25+ passes on it (15 of which were 10s and with 60fts in the 1.5 range) before it clapped out!

They have the same pedal effort as a stock clutch and have the same bite on take up as a button clutch but can handle just about any HP/torque you throw at them!
