engine plate mount

I'm looking for pictures of plate mounted engines. By plate mounted I mean an aluminum plate bolted to the front cover and mounts from frame rail to frame rail. perferrably in a first gen, but doesn't have to be. The idea is the same for any car really.

Anyone have any pics of this?

Thanks for that, that one is extremely similar to how I'm doing mine. it's nice to have some reassurance on an idea.

Another idea you might use is on the bottom of the mounting tab on the car there is a 90 degree lip that the plate sets on. That way instead of trying to support the motor while you start the bolts you just have to drop it down on the lip and then put the bolts in.

The way I was planning on doing it was making it a slip in slot welded to the frames. Since there would be a piece of steel welded in front and behind the aluminum plate, as well as beneath it. So I can drop the motor in while attached to the front cover already. And it would just slip in the bolt the plate to the added steel on the frame rails....

I planned on using .250 thick plate that stretches from rail to rail (about 30 inchs) and is 4" tall. This sound about right to you? Or should I go a little thicker?

This is for an all motor car.

The slot idea might get in the way for removals and installation since it won't give you room to mate to the trans. Just a thought.

That's true, but i always install the motor and tranny together anyways. For me, it's a little easier this way.

Mine gave me some room to play around with center of balance as well as side to side offset. Another thing is that if it is built solid enough it becomes another load bearing member on the frame.
