Mazda 3 converted to RWD with a PISTON motor....OMG!! lol Bergenholtz will be building the motors for him. So was he just having too many failed motors to compete or what's the deal? Was it just money and resources?

I'll let Dee comment more on this one but it really has nothing to do with failed motors. It's more about Mazda and their marketing strategy. They are releasing the Mazdaspeed3 in 2007, what better way to promote the car than to have an all out racecar debuting the same year as well.

Mazda is really pushing this car, 2 months ago I think turbo magazine had the Mazda3 on the front cover and had a pretty nice article about the car. Here's a pic...

I sort of figure it was about sponsorship, I really doubt that "blowing too many engines" was the main cause for Dee switching to the dark side...

I hope that my original question wasn't taken the wrong way. I had no idea as to the cause of the switch.

I realize this decision maybe disapointing to some. I assure you I am not completely done with the rotary powerplant. We are going to continue to work with the 13b and 20b and will be involved with a couple of teams in both the modified and street classes.

Even though I was not able to drive the RX7 as our primary vehicle next year I am very pleased that I could stay true to the Mazda brand from begining to end. I hope everyone still continues to come out and support our team. And as I stated in the past my phone # is posted on my site and anyone that is seriously considering running a 13b powerplant for any class i would be willing to share all of our R&D we have collected over the years.

You are truly a class act Dee!!!! That is an outstanding offer and is something you don't see everyday that's for sure.

I don't know if you remember me but this is Elliott from Vegas. I met you in Pamona and at Sema. Just wanted to chime in and say hi. I'll be giving you a call for sure cause i've got a few questions.

If one of anyone on this site is at rotorfest I can't wait, man everyone from dee to ari yallon answer your emails with the greatest respect and you know it wasn't a late night hurry up and email type thing; they put thought into it. man dee you could race a pink v12 powered rx8 you'd still get respect man from me.
Props and hats off.

I think you should make a street class car
Or better yet, put some drag radials on the 7 and bump it to the drag radial class with Chris Efontis and lemmie run it! ..........wishful thinking I suppose....

You guys really help out thank you Dee hope you stick around the 7club site.
