You're ignorant without a wideband...

...to what could be going on with your AFR.

You've spent bucks on a single, probably a built engine, fuel, and who knows what else. You probably spent some more money on what you thought was a fine tune from the tuner of your choice. And if he didn't forget about the correction factors, you might just have something good going.

But why risk it? You have a boost gauge, right? Get a wideband and keep an eye on your AFR under boost. It's a tenth the price of a single and a new engine, so why wouldn't you?

Absolutely and wholeheartedly agree, although the 5V wide-band sensor isn't needed full-time once the car is fully tuned out at all load points (assuming the usage of a standalone, fully programmable EFI system here and not stock).

i am using the FJO and i like it. actaualy i learned (after i bought it) the high dollar one is not really needed. the $500ish one is the same thing, you just have to make a serial cable to do dataloging. Jim swantko or something like that (i forget his exact name) showed me how to do it. all you need after you make the serial cable is software, and i think you know someone who has it.

Thanks for the info. I've been going through the regular hell with my TE kit. I haven't even put the effort into testing it since I can't find a sensor for less then $300!

If I'm forced to spend that dam much on a sensor I'll say screw the TE & get an FJO!

Quick question. Does the FJO use the Honda L1H1 sensor? (L1H1 would be imprinted on the body of the sensor) I have a TechEdge kit that isn't working right, and if I could just order the FJO controller, that would make me happy.

Thanks..

Tony

I am with you on this. Without a WB, you are risking untimely damage to your engine.

Which version of the TE WB do you have 1.0 1.1. or 1.5 was it pre-built or DIY, and what is the problem. Maybe I can give you a hand troubleshooting it

Everyone else needs to understand the $500+ price for the FJO does NOT include the cost of the L1H1. A prebuilt TE v1.5 which has features and accessories similar included in the $625 FJO (see http://www.alamomotorsports.com/products.html ) ----costs only $560 AU which converts to approx. $345 US. Shipping is extra

For more info on TE

V 1.5 Package Deal 4.0 - TE-WB Unit with 4.0 m (~13') sensor cable and data acquisition cable & TE-5301 display (saving of $20). @ AU$560 (info)

As far as those that use the 5v range O2 sensor, how fast is the response of the O2 sensor?

I've been considering buying one of these to aid in tuning of my microtech...

Is there anything wrong with a Tech Edge WB? I am planning to get one next month unless there is some reason not to. My friend has one and it seems to work fine on his car. I just don't want to spend $1000 on a WB when I can get one that is just as good or almost as good for less than half price.

Any info would be awesome, sorry I did not search, I just read this thread and posted on it. Ooops

I will post the email of a guy who seems to have sensors in stock all the time for around 150.00. I'll do that tonight when I get home. The only problem I know of with the TE is sensor availability. They are supposed to be coming out with an improved unit that will work with a larger variety of sensors in the near future as well. Carl

O'K, I will give his email to members who ask for now, but it seems to me a car enthusiast is a car enthusiast. We all should support each other. Plus I own a 97 Supra TT so I've already crossed the line

REALLY!?!?!?! Where did you hear that at??? I wonder if its really a 5 wide wide band sensor. If so maybe Ray at Malloy Mazda will give us a good deal on the sensors then we could possibaly use them with the TE kit

BTW - I also agree if you dont have a wideband, your not really tuning your just guessing.
