What 1/4 mi should I get?

Hey guys I have an 88 GXL and was wondering what kind of time I should get completely stock? I know the stock time is 16.5 but what should I get? I am a pretty good driver & am trying to see what I can get tonight so I know how much each mod I add gives me. Thanks.

Thumbs up

well u might have answered ur own question..reason being 16.5 prolly waz the avg ET back when ur car waz brand new...but now chances are that it has quite a bit of mileage and maybe even a tink or 2... i would say that unless ur motor is in mint condition u could top a 16.5...But then again i could be wrong....

Well i knew a guy who had a series 5, all stock, with a blown water O-ring so the thing kept overheating (yes they do kick you off the track for puking coolant all over the staging lanes ) and he ran consistent 16.7-16.8's. (He trailered it to and from the track, on several occasions)

Also saw a mint looking GTUs with about 200lb of crap in the trunk run a 16.8 as well. Only saw the one run though.

Looks like your 79 is 17.0 stock & the 84 is 15.9. Here is where I got it: http://www.missouri.edu/~apcb20/times.html

i wouldn't trust that website its totaly off! With my car it says 15.6 (91 Dodge Stelath ES) and Most peopl ecan hit a 14.9 STOCK! and then the 3000GT SL says 16.4, and i know those hit about the same as the Stealth, being the stealth is only 100-200lbs lighter then the 3000GT, so Just a word of thought don't trust the times...
