Viton Oil Control O-ring

Ok, i ordered a set of viton oil control o-ring and the inner ones are too tight? Does anybody know the right number?

I went with 9464K125 which is Dash 244 like everybody said, and they are too thick, what gives. The outer ones, which were part number 9464K116 and are dash 158 were the right ones. Anybody know how to make the 1/8" thick ones fit? They are too tight, let me know if i ordered the wrong ones so I can send them back.

How do you know that the -244 is the ones that Atkins uses? Do you have first-hand knowledge? I tried both (-158 and -244 viton o-rings), and wound up using new stock ring in my last two engine due to excessively (if not impossibley) tight fits with either of those?

I just check and noticed that my post to this effect was lost after the last back of this Forum.

If you bought them from McMaster, you're golden as they have an exceptional (read liberal) return policy.

What is a good price for a set of Viton oil control O rings? Is $50 a good buy?

Any chance that the required O-ring are metric and therefore not compatible with a (standard) o-ring cone? I still bothered by the fact that neither size was (acceptabley) close to fitting. I even check my McMaster Carr reciept, and both were in fact the mentioned sizes. I really hope that I'm wrong on this one because I'd love the McMaster viton o-ring possibility.

I am sure the mazda ones are metric but the guys who sell viton rings here just sell the std o-rings and charge an arm and a leg. Everyone that I have asked that has used the atkins ones say they are very tight and quite a few end up breaking the oil seal in the process.

RXSEVEN: thanks for the insight.

BTW, has anyone priced the Oil Control seals/rings (should you break one)? Needless to say they're not cheap, especially since they are only available in pairs. If you do decide to go this route, be forewarned:
YOU DON"T WANT TO BREAK THEM... else... OUCH!

Metric o-rings usually do not have an equivalent std o-ring. Haven't found a us supplier for the metric products.

McMaster does have metric Viton o-rings, but only to 50mm ID.

Atkins seems to have realized that people have started buying these for a lot less. They are now selling a viton set for 39.95 on ebay!

Javrosario, that was exactly my experience! I'm convince that the prevciously discussed ASA number as NOT compatible. And ANY cost savings goes out the door as soon as you break an Oil Control Ring $$$... as I'm sure you now know!

Yeah, I'll just stick to the mazda ones, I never had any problems with them. Yeah, I just ordered a new pair of oil control o-rings, I wasn't too happy. Now I got an extra inner one.
