I have a complete exhaust for a 01 E55. I'm having a hard time getting rid of it. You think it flows enough to be fitted to my BP 4 port N/A? The muffler i mean.
Oh ok. I don't think the muffler would flow enough. You need one with a straight through design... like you can drop a ball right through it if you wanted. Don't want to choke the rotary, especially on a bridgeported engine.
Most aftermarket exhaust systems are of the striaght through design muffler. Very few are not actually. Basically all of the ones made by japanese companies (greddy, hks, apex i, tanabe, etc) are all like this, and most of the domestic brands (magnaflow, etc) are also.
So yes, totally streetable.
Check this link out for a write up and diagram of this type of muffler (straight through aka glasspack)

Of course I do. Don't you? I'd like to inform those who don't know and only listen to rumor. My bridgeport engine was no louder than some of these civics you see running around and by far not as loud as some muscle cars. As for the power band, it started at about 4.5k and pulled hard up to 10k where I shifted. On the dyno I'll take it to 11.2k. That's a 5.5k power range, not too bad if you ask me. Also, below 4.5k it wasn't a pig either. Just as fast up to 4.5k as my stock one was. Now with my new motor I'm porting a little differently to bring the power band up further in the rpm range and try to squeeze 270-280fwhp out of it. I'm also building a short header 2 into 1 single exhaust to further the peakiness of the motor. I'd like to have a 6.5k-10k power band. And still drive it on the street. I'm not sure what the extent of your diving comfort level will allow you but I used to drive a 71 Datsun 510 semi built motor with a very eratic cam in it and that thing was 100 times more annoying than my current car. Personally I'm in heaven. Just need a stereo now.
It's VERY loud. How many Civics do you see that can crack the windshield of people driving behind them when they downshift?
There will be some muscle cars out there louder though (serious modified cammed out v8s with uncorked exhausts), but even then, not many will be louder than a straight exhaust bridgeported rotary.

Yeah, an un-capped rotary is loud as hell, esp. straight header. I won't even argue the fact that an open header bridgeport is louder than just about any piston motor, possibly even a top fuel car. But were talking about a muffled exhaust and the limits of noise tolerance. I personally feel that a bridgeported motor, or specifically my motor can and was muffled enough for the street. Infact I'll be raising the level of my next exhaust system to increase power output. As an example my friend who has the RX3 on K2rd's website has basically my motor and is running on the street made 217rwhp. So that's the power figure I'm talking about. And yes I know that the less you restrict the exhaust the more power you can make. This is just the level that I'm talking about. If and when I can I'll be going BP turbo.
