To TII or not to TII?

I have a 91' mazda rx-7 conv. I have been considering doing a TII swap rearend and all, i know everything to expect in this and what it would cost me. But i have recently been thinking about rebuilding my engine and porting it, so on.... what kinda power gains could i expect from this and cost? this car is not and will not be a daily driver. Any help is appreciated, ty.

being a conv i can not tell you to sell it and get a TII, cost.... around 3500 to 2000 depending on what you get, stock jspec = 1200 with out harness lucky if you get it with harness ecu is an other 200, harness could be from 150 to 300 if you willing to keep you rear end you will save a few hundreds but you may snap the whole thing. i done the conversion before in my old 86 coupe and it wans't worth it, now i have a TII with a turbo upgrade and mazda remanufacture long block for 3000. just my 2 cents, good luck

ya, i know how much easier that would be, but i love having the convertable top, and that plus the turbo engine would be pretty sweet. Plus this is my first car and dont want to get rid of it yet

well, it doesn't sound like you're in a rush, so i say just start looking for parts at your leisure and when you have everything together (engine, tranny, rear, ECU, etc), then do the T2 swap.

Definetly do the TII vert, its twice as fun with the top down.

As everyone mentioned.

TII block
TII trans
TII ecu
TII harness
TII rear end and halfshafts
TII driveshaft

I have an s4 but I spent about 1000 on a complete usdm block ecu and harness , 70 bucks for the driveshaft, 350 shipped for the rear end and 150 for the trans. So I guess about 2000 to do the swap. Its well worth it though.

Well....

I would look into a camden supercharger for your N/A... You might find it pretty interesting...I also have a vert and been considering a TII swap. I am really looking into that and if anyone knows a lot about it please let me know
