1. NO..the cosmo flywheel and starter will become an issue or some machining will be required. Shaft spline on the se tranny is smaller than a cosmo clutch..

2. i have seen the turbo II and 93 and up transmisions take a beating...So without going into special use i would stick with the OEM.

3. SE and 79 tranny differ in the tail end. You can swap the different tail parts of the tranny and vice versa. The 79 tranny has the shifter aprox 3 inches shorter.
SE tranny is a little stronger than the 79..

3) When you say shifter is shorter by 3 inches. You mean closer to the firewall by three inches? Or shorter shifter in hieght?
