Telescoping intake runners, anyone ever seen them (or make them?)

The variable intake on the R26B was designed to increase torque for the tighter LeMans course. It lost 30 peak hp vs. the fixed trumpets, so it was not used on the other courses.
I think thats a lot of time and money just for bling.
