The variable intake on the R26B was designed to increase torque for the tighter LeMans course. It lost 30 peak hp vs. the fixed trumpets, so it was not used on the other courses.

I think thats a lot of time and money just for bling.

Which is a dumb idea because then you have to repressurize that big air box everytime the BOV operates. This gives you LAG.
