T & R Racing takes first place at Etown

All,

Just thought I would share this. Did anyone on the list end up going to the NIRA event at Etown this Sunday? John Duarte, I wish you were there, I know you would have given Romeo a run for his money. I was a nice day, nice weather and a lot of races. This was one event I wish my car was ready for. Romeo from T and R with the first gen enterned in the Power 6 class. He ran a number of supras and beat them all. One of the supras was a 10sec silver one. That would have been a close race but the supra lost traction in 3rd and let off. Romeo took the win with a 10.8 I believe. T and R raced a couple of other cars and beat them also and made it to the finals. In the final race Romeo was paired up against a Performance Factory Supra. (Vinny 10s group) Romeo had him out the hole by at least a car and kept pulling on him all the way to the end. Rx7 ran a 10.5 vs the supra's 11.4 It's always nice to see an rx7 beat a supra. On another note, Tony from T and R broke another axle launching the car. Next run he dialed in a 12.0 since no cage and ran a 11.7 and broke out ! One thing I have to say is that Vinny's group are a bunch of nice guys. When picking up the trophy and $1000 they congratulated us and stayed for a while just talking about the racing scene in NYC. Pepe Loco was also there at the trophy booth, another cool guy. It's really nice when you see the local speed shops, whether rx7 or supra, taking the time to come out and have some fun and also support their customers !!! It must be nice to drive to the track, run 10.5's and take the win, and then drive home! Hopefully next year I will know what that feels like.

Anthony

If you go by each event I believe NIRA pays the most.
It depends on classes and if you're running for the championship. Check out------> www.nira.com

Congrats again !!!

Trust me, I'm pissed off for not going too

Dropped the tranny, replaced clutch and lighter flywheel to find out at 4am the rear counterweight was the wrong one !!!!!!
motor now vibrates and feels rough at high rpm !
I mixed rear counterweights and could not tell them apart.

With no rest/sleep I slept 'till 1pm and never made it to watch.

Anyone notice the race entry fee for IDRC @ Maplegrove ??
$$ 100.00 !!!!!!! damn, that's alot money.
These IDRC guys nuts ???? They make it sound like everyone racing that day has a chance to win part of that $ 47,000 pot !!! that money is all going for the points leaders in different classes.

Therefore, we're paying $ 100 for the same payout unless you're in the points list.

Not sure if I'm going !!!!!

Hey John!
What's the deal with that race anyway? How are they running the race? It does not say on the web-site. From what I gathered it's going to be a bracket type race but for who and how do you qualify?
For that kind of money it's worth while to come up there!

Hey Anthony,
It's too bad things didn't work out for you. I guess this wasn't your session to run with the RX-7. You had an amazing session last year and I'm sure next year will be great for you again. Do you think using the Haltech ****** up your car. It was running great with the Pettit's unit, before you put in the Haltech. Anyway, good look with your FD.

Also, there were so many Supras out there and not too many RX-7s at E-Town. There had to be at least a dozen of Supras out there and a hand full of RX-7s. Most of the time there are a lot of RX-7s and Supras at E-Town.

The Next event at E-Town, NJ is on Sunday Nov. 4, 2001
I hope to see more RX-7s out there. It's going to be US Muscle cars VS. Imports. For more info go to www.racewaypark.com

Jay,

To tell you the truth the Haltech is a great unit but you need support. Last year while everyone was tuning and testing I just changed my plugs and washed my car and would run low 11's. With the Haltech I ran the car at one event this year. I ran a 11.5@119. This was with a bad 60ft time and the intake temps were in the 150's. The car was also running way too rich, there was a lot of black smoke coming out the muffler. If I were to cut a good 60ft the times would have been about 11.1-11.3 which is where I was last year so I am happy with the Haltech. The only issue I have is that it needs so much attention. Its nothing like having a Pettit Ecu in the car. THis year with the Haltech install and blowing my motor and also breaking axles left and right has not been good. I bought an old explorer so next year I will be ready. If it breaks, no need to worry, just tow it home. Also, without the support of T and R I would not be racing the car, it is way too expensive breaking parts. When you are part of a team of guys like this, it makes racing so much easier and a lot more fun. This weekend only Tony and Romeo raced, no customers raced but yet there were over 20 guys there to support them. Next year will be better !

You are sure right about the Supras at this last event. To take the win he had to beat three supras. I think he was the only Rx7 in his class also.

You mean to tell me you came all the way down here and you didn't come to see me
Ok I forgive you!
So you guys stopped by Cam's and Little and Big Moe's shops.
You guys would most likely see me up there some time before you come back down!

The Miata has run consistent 118-121mph and I think 11.7 on drag radials at 13-14psi. He has a fuel pump problem which he keeps ignoring....the reason why boost is low. His subframe has also cracked again !!!!
Therefore he put the car aside 'til a solid rear is installed.
Car is light....2420lbs with him in it it feels like a go cart.

Most likely I will be there this weekend.
I Just swapped my rear counterweight and motor is back to being silky smooth at high rpm:p
