suggestions?

Hey all,

new poster looking for some suggestions on which year rotary to go with.

What I'm planning on doing is taking a 71 Opel GT and putting a rotary from an RX-7 in it. Only problem I'm having is figuring out, deciding what year RX-7 guts would be the best. Once finished the car will be used for some drag racing and fun around the town, so something that can handle being run hard is a good plus. Also something that has good options for aftermarket parts is a big plus.

Generally I'm looking for around 200-300HP out of the engine, I'm also planning on taking the transmission and rear end with the engine, so reliability on those as well would help.

Any suggestions you guys might have, what some good mods are and anything else you might have to say would be helpful

Thanks

Maddyn,

The 13B engine can be found in the 1st gens 84 & 85 GSL-SE models and 2nd gens 86-92 models.

You'd probably want the turbo engine as it does have the most power potential (450+ HP). The 20B engine is more expensive (3 rotor) and comes from the Cosmo Cars sold in Japan. That engine can handle 650+ HP.

The 12A engines are found in the 7x-85 models and is only turbo chared in Japan. Not as much OEM HP as you probably want.

The 13B-REW (I think that's correct) is found in the 3rd gens 93-95. More OEM HP but a shorter lifespan than the 2nd gens.

I'd recommend getting ALL of the OEM equipment that controls and feeds the engine.
