SR Motorsports Turbo Kit

I was looking at the SR Motorsports Triple K turbo kits and just had a few questions for anyone that has one or something similar. Say if I got the stage 2 kit (dynoed on their car at 540 @ 19psi) how streetable would the car? If the car was all stock what other modifications would you need to buy for the car besides what is included (turbo, exhaust manifold, waste gate, downpipe, oil lines, block off plates, vac tubing, water lines, and heat shields? The last time I ordered a turbosystem for a car it included a fuel pump, injectors, blow off valve, billet rods, turbo timer, boost controller, FMIC. Wouldnt I need to get all these things as well? Keeping in mind the last system I did was for a non-turbo engine, but I am sure there are still lots of modifications that would need to be done to the car? What else would you need to have a reliable as possible for a 540HP 1.3 L engine? If there is a lot of stuff it would add up quickly onto the 5,000 price for the turbo kit...

If your car is stock you are going to need another $5k in mods to produce the HP you are looking for. Thats on top of the most overpriced turbo kit on the market.

Do you have an FC or FD?
I have the Stage 1 for my FC.

While the SR kit gives you all the things you need to ADD a big turbo to your car, it doesn't give you the things you need to RUN the bigger turbo...

You'll still need:

-Standalone EMS
-FMIC
-Fuel Pump
-Bigger injectors
-FPR
-BOV etc etc

All that = $$$$.

Plus, even if they got 540 hp, doesn't mean you'll get that just by slapping on the kit. A lot depends on engine porting, intake temperature etc.

You probably won't be needing any billet rods.

I had the SR Motorsports stage 2 turbo kit on a bone stock reman and stock ignition with 550primaries, 1600cc secondaries, SR Ultimate fuel pump, and Haltech E6k. I ran a best of 10.73@128mph on 20psi. The turbo makes a great street car as well. 15lbs of boost by 4k.

Yea, Im surprised you havn't heard about it. I even posted vid's of the last event I raced. Was a Import vs. Domestic race. I finished 3rd. Don't believe the bullshit you read bout stock apex seals not cutting it. Demetrios (Reactive Racing) has been running them forever and he runs 30+lbs of boost. Pepe Loco runs stock apex seals with 30+lbs of boost and NOS!! Its all in tuning. Demetrios tuned me and my times speak everything bout his abilities. I don't know of too many people besides myself, who has went 10's on a stock reman.

ErnieT, how is the lag and response of this turbo kit? Where do you see full boost on it?

I don't think we're questioning the apex seal as much as the stock port.
The highest I've seen on GT3540 is 470 rwhp@20 psi on Ihor's and he has a large street port. Other with T04S has 460ish rwhp at the same boost level. But they all have large street port.

Assuming the street port has 10% more than stock port, you would've made 560-570 rwhp@20 psi with street port. For comparison, I think pluto made that much power with a T66@25ish psi and street port.

So how big is this turbo anyway ? If it's T88-like or T51R-sized then I'm gonna shut up now.
Don't take this personal, I just find it hard to believe this turbo spools like GT3540 and and make Greddy T88 power.

If anyone is interested in building a low cost version of this kit I have Ray's Stage II Turbo for sale on the 3rd gen for sale forum, turbo only.

Ray's kit uses a cast manifold and a 3 inch downpipe, includes oil fittings and block off plates, plus a wastegate (not plumbed into the dp). Everything included is easy to fab or purchase elsewhere.

I really could care less if ya believe me or not. There's atleast 200 people on the NE section that can vouch for my 7. I get full boost by 4k. As for Ihor, Dave tuned his car to the brink, thats why it blew a short time after. Tuning ability on a Haltech is far better for a single turbo application.

dude, I watch your video of the 10.xx run

I don't doubt you're making the power and I don't doubt the turbo can do it. But not at 20 psi OR spools like Gt3540/T04S. Again, if it's 70mm+ compressor wheel then it may very well do it at 20 psi. So, can you please post a dyno sheet or take a mesurement of the turbo, if you haven't already.

1FooknTiteFD, yes I believe it's the controversial holset turbo that was discussed a while back

Bad news is, I sold the car. So the dyno sheet is his as well. Good new is Demetrios told me he measured it to be almost identical to a T-76 which is pretty damn big. A tad bigger than a Greddy T-88. The exhaust housing is the same as the Kai.

Any divided manifold for a T4 footprint. I'm running the stage2 in my FC and I like it. PM me if you need a manifold, I have a FULLY divided SS HKS manifold for sale.
