Some questions on building my Rx drag car..

Well i plan on building a FC drag car with a monster bridge port and nitrous fogger system(like a 250hp shot).. i just have a few question..
1. how would i set up the front suspension?
2. what size drag rims fit the front?
3. how would i manage to put a TH350 or a C4 in the car?
4. would i have to get the car back halfed or could a T2 diff work?

Well thats it for now.. Thanks,
Dave

You don't think there is risk in strapping a 250 shot? Maybe there are people that run this out there but I just haven't heard of anyone running anything past a 75 shot

More power to you, I like the idea of stepping up to the plate

1. how would i set up the front suspension? - since its drag only, i would recommend a 90/10 valved shock and some light spring weight coils, to help promote weight transfer to the rear of the car. No strut tower braces or anything like that. You want the front suspension to "be loose" to some effect.

2. what size drag rims fit the front? - something about 2.5" to 3" wide. With those rims you can run a tire designed for the rear of the old school VW bugs, and from good year, costs about 40-50 each.

3. how would i manage to put a TH350 or a C4 in the car? There are bell housing adapters for the rotary engine to any common domestic slush box tranny. Let me know, i have a killer C4 i built just sitting here! I would recommend the powerglide, due to the rotaries high rpm potential and the long as hell 2nd gear.

4. would i have to get the car back halfed or could a T2 diff work? I would install a live axle out of an older Chevrolet Camaro. Make sure to run at least a 31 spline axle in the GM 12 bolt. The 12 bolt is more efficient than a Ford 9" and will handle the same amount of power. I know some people using the 12 bolt in their cars, and its fine. Since its drag only, you really dont need to worry about the handling benefits of IRS too much. Besides, a solid live axle will be more suited to straighter and harder launches, and is MUCH simpler in design, yet allows for more suspension choices, such as ladder bars or 4 link setups.

you dont want a powerglide with that low of hp range, the pump on a PG takes too much power to run, go with a TH350 and a ford 8.8 rear end, the 8.8 is more effecient than the 9" or the 12 bolt. i turned 10,500 last night with no problems on a TH350!!!

i only managed a 5.90@123 on the best run, it was a 1/8 mile track. my mph is still off as i was having problems with the car bogging off the line and when it finally pick back up the car would spin. it was one of those humid evenings with a lot of dew in the air and the track was ****! i only managed a 1.41 60 ' on that pass. i am gonna have to get to a dyno this week to get it tuned, i was hoping i could pull it off at the track but my two eyes can only watch so many things and since the car was loose i had to keep my attention on the track!!i was only making 24 psi and i did not DARE spray it!! the twins never stop pulling and at 10k it was still pulling, this motor does not have very large bridgeports adn they are only on the primary housings so i think once i put together a secondary BP it out to run good. i cannot release too much information yet but there are some crazy things inside this engine and it seems that they are working good so far.
got the dyno reserved for friday morning so i will see how much i can squeeze out of it.
Crispeed..any shakedown runs yet?

Hey Marcus!
On my 9.20 run the 1/8th was 5.90@122mph! just to give you an idea!
No shakedown runs as yet. The car is all apart being painted.
BTW. How much does your car weigh with you in it?

you don't really need one, you're pretty close to the min. for the nhra modified class. plus, once some 2-rotors start doing well in that class, they will surely raise the min. weight. right now, the weight break is ridiculous for 2-rotors. a 2-rotor gets a 250 weight advantage over 4cyl. to put that in perspective, that's the same weight penalty that a 6cyl. carries over a 4cyl., and percentage-wise it's even greater. 6cyl. cars can make roughly 50% more power than a 4cyl., so the nhra is assuming a 4cyl. can make roughly 50% more power than a 2rotor. if there is a class which a 2-rotor can really do well, modified is it.
