Sidepipes
Im thinking of manufacturing sidepipes for my FD with a single. In my opinion this would be better because of no backpressure and fast exit. I should only look if this is not burning my pants off
WOuld this make any difference, performance wise?
Emission and sound are no problem.

My interest is a little different than yours. It seems to me you would be able to increase flow with 2 pipes, and then be better able to muffle the exhaust. My car is louder than I would like, but there is only so much you can do with 1 pipe. Looks like nobody else cares.

Go to Summitracing.com and search for these part numbers:
PTEH1050
PTEH1260
or search for PATRIOT and you'll get lots of more side pipe exhausts, hope that helps!

How does having shorter exhaust pipes fit in with your goal of reducing noise without increasing backpressure? Just the opposite will occur. Besides, there is no practical way to run exhaust pipes like that on the FD. Even if the undercarriage allowed it, the sides of the car are too low to run an exhaust there anyway.
A single exhaust flows enough for race guys making over 500rwhp. Conversely, there's several guys in the 400+rwhp range running the Racing Beat exhaust, the quietest on the market.

well for it working I am sure it will. Based from experience on NAs you can have two type of primaries: the short with 40 somwhat inches and a long one with 130 somewhat inches (don't qoute me on the numbers). I am sure similar things would work with turbos, but have to make sure you get the right length or you lose power.

Sidepipes are awsome (I had sidepipes on my Crownvic)
but the sidepipes on Summitracing dont really fit a FD, or any RX7 for that matter.
A 3in pipe, comming out right in front of the right rear tire will a small wastegate pipe right next to it would look pretty cool.

Yes, sidepipes are cool. But I have been thinking that I can not fit a 3" pipe under the car because than I would have a flat pipe because we have a lot of speedbumps here.

If it helps any, I know that pettit racing's track car has a side pipe. Plus a shorter pipe would spool a turbo faster, but would be loud as hell plus there would be a large bend because the exhaust is a couple feet away from where you would root it. It would shoot sick flames though, so i say do it. You know you would be the only one on the road with it.

Sorta Side-Pipe...
There is a RX-3.. Not sure if it is still around.. In the Southeast Area.. saw it at Sebring one time.. Racing in GT3.
It had a Short collected header.. I believe custom.. 2Inch ID.. collecting to a 3" Pipe.. and then the fun part.. the passenger seat was gone.. (GT3 car) and he had built a boxed in area where the floor was raised up and under the car the muffler was recessed into it.. to allow for the car to be slammed to the ground... the exhaust then exited just behind the door out a 3 or 4" dump with a stainless shield around the pipe leading back to the fender.
This was a steel chassis with glass front fenders.. and If memory serves.. rear flares.. not whole fenders.
Needless to say.. it was mean as hell when running.. and YES it was LOUD.
Saw the car about a year later.. and it had a long collected with lavarock exiting behind the driver (Left side) behind the shackles.. and has a 90 on the end of the muffler to direct sound towards the ground. The owner driver said it made more power and was quieter than the shorty.

Downpipe, midipe and a non restrictive catback such as apex N1 flows plenty. You won't see a difference if you shorter it any. More noise, that's all.
