RX8 stationary gears into 13b

I am looking to replace my stat gears in my 13b. I seen on Mazdatrix website I can use the rx8 gears. But with possible clearance issues. Anyone done this and had any problems? I also thought about just getting rx7 bearings if clearance is a big issue with the rx8 gears.

Thanks for any help

well, clearance IS a possible issue if you're using the Rx-7 shaft with Renesis stationary gears. i supposed swapping the Rx-7 bearing in would be an idea.

as far as threads go, there is one over at nopistons in the Engine Building section. i've read it, but i forget what was said.

another option, and regardless of what you read online, i would strongly recommend this - call Mazdatrix and ask. they have helped me with many questions to date.

You have to grind the oil passage hole to make it line up with one in the older style 13B. Its about 1/8-3/16" off in the rear one.

Thanks for the info on the oil passage and ill try nopistons site later.

I just wanted to be as informed as I can before I call Mazdatrix.

Instead of spending the additional money on stationary gear bearings I just baught an RX-8 E-shaft, already needed to replace the rotor bearings so I got RX-8 bearings for those two.

I really couldnt see replacing my esahft as it is in spec plus will be much cheaper to change out 2 bearings. Trying to keep somewhat of a budget while still doing it right.

Thanks Ill try to post back how it goes I ordered then last night. so Ill let you know how the install went.

rx-8 e-shafts are about $200 from mazda, not expensive at all, and they're lighter and stronger too. while you're in there, might as well spend the 200 and do it right.
