Rotormaster racing - 7.5 times + pics

Joe Signorelli just had his first official bracket run today at the national meeting. Turned a 7.69@178 to win & go thru to round II.

With consistant 7.5 - 7.6 runs, Joe was in with a good chance to get to the top of his class over all the V8's today.

The other major rotary racer here in Oz, PAC didn't show for there qualifying run yesterday nor 1st race today. Unsure of what trouble they are having. Popped engine, wrecked gearbox......??? Unsure

Here is a shot l took of Joe from saturday right at the green light. (note those tyres bagging).........

Note the crowd in this pic. Was a very hot day. Air temp = 35`c+ Track temp = 60`c

The ROTORMASTER RX-7 made it right up to the semi-finals. Pipped by a 350 LJ (at least thats what the fake plate read) after it ran just 1/1000th above its dial in of 9.11. Joe's dial in was working back up as he was being forced to turn the car around as soon as 15 minutes. This gave the clutch, turbo's, engine very little time to cool, so the times started rising back up from the PB of 7.53@179.

The crowd cheered at the semi final due to the closeness of the race. Joe dialed in a 7.60. Pulled a 7.64. Joe said later that he was running down the Torana at light-speed & thought they crossed the line dead equal.

It would have been the 1/1000th over the dial in that did it for the Torana.

Either way, Congratulations to the Rotormaster team as they placed the HIGHEST OF ANY ROTARY in Oz for a national meet.

Rotormaster completed 12 passes since Friday qualifying. All passes where in the 7.5 - 7.6 - 7.7 catergory. Hows that for reliability.......

This is the car.

The engine & box will be removed & installed in Abels RX-7 when it arrives in 2-3 weeks time.
