Yes but the thing with the RA seals is that they are more resistant to detenation. Also when they blow, they usually warp and don't crack like the oem seals. Cracked seals can cause alot of additional damage.

So the seals don't go, so you drive around till you crack the end plate, wipe out the rotor bearings, damage the stationary gear, dent the rotors, blow out the corner seals and side seals... I know what you are saying, so you don't send the seals through the turbo, so it saves the turbo, or really it could potentially save the turbo..The problem with the warping and the fitment issues though is that you have to rebuild anyway, and because they are so hard, one they loosen up a bit, they destroy the rotor seal groove...
Yeah Kabooksi made some good numbers with them, my first Ra sealed engine made great power for the first 2.5 months of its life, and then over about a week it went to ****..I am up to a 1000 km's now on version 2.0 of the ra,s.. so far so good, but I am not gonna preach that they are the answer, at some point I want to get those ra springs out of the motor, so if it makes to 10,000 km,s I will put it apart then, see what the seals look like, and report back, but at that point, the motor will be going back to oem seals and springs at that time to.. Maybe RA should start supplying wingnuts for the motor mounts and turbos with their kits...max

I personally would rather have lighter softer seals. Less chatter and they wear out the seals before they wear out the rotor housing surface. Pluss the 3 piece design makes higher compression and better sealing at lower rpmīs. I detonated in my NA awhile back for like 30 seconds total before the OEM seals went out. That was in 4th gear aprx 140mph up a slight incline. I think you guys should try and prevent detonation instead of finding ways to protect against the worse case of it, in which case your motor will blow anyways.

OK so cliff's note version is in order...

What have we concluded so far?

Rotary Aviation Has admitted it's apex seal SPRINGS arent good for nitrous, high boost, or real high rev's.

There have been cases of the RA Seals holding up to high power, and some have experienced lengthy, and loud, detonation with RA Seals without costing them the motor.

Most people still say Mazda seals are the way to go.

Mazda OEM Springs are better then Rotary Aviation Springs.

Rotary Aviation Seals warp, Mazda' crack.

and some other bickering...

So the biggest reccommendation from this topic is the following:
Most people reccommend OEM Mazda Seals and Springs.
If you feel the need to sue Rotary Aviation Seals then, if you are running nitrous, high boost or high revving configurations, you should use Mazda OEM Springs with the RA Seals.

I'll be running a streetported 13bt, with a t78 pushing 20-25psi (depending on power results i get), with a completely overhauled fuel and ignition system (aka, nothing stock). I have chosen to run the RA 3mm seals, and afetr this topic ill be ordering the Atkins 3mm Springs (which supposively are the Mazda OEM springs)
