We've got our cut list of materials done and now we need to have everything welded up. I've been out of town last week so I don't know where we are at yet. Will update soon

Well we're making some good progress and we should have something ready to try very soon. We've had some setbacks and learned some good things but I like the direction we are going now and I'm very hopeful that this is the final design.

We will do my FD housings first and I will post the pics when done along side the starting condition.

Look just the same like the FD housings I have, apart one of mine has a small crack at the leading plug hole

 

What about housings with grooves in the middle of the housing where an apex seal came apart and took metal with it? Do you have a way of filling in the groove, grinding, rechroming, and finish grinding?

This is what I think many people have, is grooved housings, and would like to see a way to bring them back from the dead.

 

We will be working on that once the chroming process is perfected

 

Is it something that your rechroming procedure takes care of or that is an add-on to the rechroming process?

 

As he stated earlier he is looking into a low temp fix for filling in grooves or pitting once the new chroming process is perfected.

I'll pm the link to you. I recently just found out that my engine runs and has good compression so it should be in pretty good shape for a while hopefully. I am just going to throw a mild turbo setup on it for now once the bodywork is done but after that I am going to put a big turbo on it and a new shortblock. My old rotor housings would then be a perfect candidate for this process. I hope this works out for you. I hate having to find out parts are nla... Keep up the good work

 

Once holidays are done and my partner gets back from the Yukon we will get this finished. There is not much left for us to do, just some welding and fly cut some pcs to get everything nice and square.

I just got back last night after a weeks extended stay due to the rear diff blowing on our truck.

We are getting very close to completion. Some parts are at the machine shop now for finishing, then some mock-up and finish welding. Sort out some smaller details then we should be ready. I'll post an update as soon as we are ready.

 

Great thread here, would like to see some updates or a close to finished product. More pix of housings nearing completion?

Made some more progress last week, almost completely finished now.
I don't have a vertical band saw so I need to farm it out or find somewhere that will let me use theirs.

I've been working on it for the last two days getting everything fitted just nice This baby is just about ready for our trials.
