Quickest untubbed

Hello, I was wondering what the fastest untubbed rotors are? I know in PR there is an RX3 that has run 8.7's? and an RX3 in the States that is in the 8.8's?

Today (Australia)The Un-tubbed Rotary title was not only smashed but the first ever 8 second pass was recorded. Prepped by Rotorworx in Melbourne, Dave McPherson's 13B Corolla running a big roller bearing turbo and Microtech ECU ran an amazing 8.81 at 153mph (1.38 60ft), and backed this up with an 8.87 and an 8.95 second pass. What's even more impressive is that this was the cars first outing.

Just wondering how close this car is to other untubbed runners?

I know David Turbo from PR tunned a blue Rx3-Sp that ran 8.22 a few times before the car was in a real bad accident. I saw the car in Raceway Park in E-Town NJ. I could see that the Rx3 had working headlights, original windows, passenger side seat, but I'm not sure if the car was tubbed. Ill se if I could find a pic if this rx3.

Talking

Dave ran the Corolla again yesterday for a best pass of 8.71 at 138mph , 60ft - 1.43, half track mph was 129.8! He couldn't get a full pass in all day as he had traction issues in 4th and 5th gears, the car kept trying to drive into the wall, it was also a very windy day.

Let me ask you a questions to you guys, what exactly do you guys mean by tubbed or untubbed?

I saw this car, and it was backhalved for the rear tires, it had a cage, and everything else was pure metal (body panels, hood, bumpers, etc). The car even had two seats, radio and speakers on the doors (I don't know if the work or not, but you could see them).

Sorry for the confusion if I understan tubbed as another thing

If the rear inner guards have been modified to fit a slightly larger tyre, we call that mini tubbed. For example, for an RX3 to fit a 10 or 11 inch wide tyre under the car, it would need to be mini tubbed.

Full tubs are basically the whole back end being cut out and new wheels tubs being used to fit much larger tyres unrder the back.

Hope that helps

In the case of the blue corolla pictured in the thread the stock factory wheel tubs are untouched, the wheel arch on the outer guard isn't modified and the lip on the outer guard is left as stock (though possibly the inner edge of the lip is rolled)
