Question about RRFPR

I have a questions for you guys.

At what point is a RRFPR needed? If I was to run 14-15psi of boost on the stock twins non seq with upgraded fuel pump and inj would I need a rrfpr???

Thanks guys,
STEPHEN

IMHO...running 14-15 on stock turbos(not a great idea anyways) but back to the subject...no you dont need a RRFPR...provided you have the other things that you mentioned.

I think guys going single turbo and running lots of boost should consider it...or N/A cars that you decide to turbo charge...

So what is the line where you need to upgrade it? Is it a certain boost level? A certain hp level?

At what point will I really need to start thinking about upgrading the stock fuel regulator?

I might be upgrading to a set of high flow twins similar to M2's running non seq. Can I make 400rwhp on the stock regulator safely? 350? 450? 550?

i just need a pretty good idea so I know when to start planning for it

Thanks,
STPEHEN

the rising rate regulator is kind of a band aid fix if you dont have big enough injectors/ ecu tuning, or if you are turboing an n/a. if you have bigger injectors and a tunable ecu then you dont need a rrfpr. it is one more thing to tune

You never *need* a RRFPR, it's just an alternative (when combined with a better fuel pump) to getting bigger injectors.

So the only reason a rrfpr is needed is to push more fuel thru your injectors than they are designed for? Seems like if someone was going to spend the money on a rrfpr they should just spend it on injectors instead.

Ok, well I've got a upgraded pump and injectors that should supply enough fuel for my goals so I guess there is no need for a upgraded regulator.

I'm running 550/1200 and upgraded Walbro pump, anyone have any idea how much power than can take? I'm thinking 425ish or so. Is that about right? I want to get right around 400rwhp so with my current fuel system set up and good tuning I shouldnt need to worry about a upgraded regulator...right

Thanks for all the input,
STEPHEN

Stephen, glad to see you're thinking of Bryan's turbos - but non-seq??? I thought you were a sequential fan?? - I'd never go back. Anyway, what's been stated above is right. Seems like the line is a single with upwards of 18-20 psi. I know with the Haltech you don't need a FPR. But I've asked Dave at KDR many times about needing a RRFPR and he said it's not really needed in my case. At RX7.com there's a fuel injector calculator to see how much flywheel hp your injectors can handle. I think 1200cc can handle about 430 flywheel hp if I remember right at 85% duty cycle. Go there and check it out. I'm getting 1300cc installed with the upgraded twins.

Yea, I am a sequential fan but I just done want to put all that crap back in my car. Its not a big deal, I really think I want to turn up the boost past what is safe running seq. Brian says its too hard on the turbo shafts to run high boost on the seq system and that for the boost level I want I need to be non seq.

STEPHEN
