Price tag for Evil7's engine?
What do you think it would cost to duplicate Evil7's 4rotor PP motor? The complete motor and all systems to run it.

Over 100k! Hmmm.... could one of you guys break that down for me? Ok, so the block is 25k, the turbos or turbo could'nt be more than 7k, Y2k right.? There's the 3 motechs at 3-5k each, theres 50k right there total. Now help me spend the next 50k. Just curious. One of my buddies at work who does'nt really get the rotary thing questioned the price tag of that motor and I said maybe 50-60k. He shook his head stating that for 40k you could build a blown big block with more than 2000hp, easy. And actaully I'd like to know anyway just because I'm going turbo here by the end of the year and was flirt with the idea of having Pineapple build me a PP turbo 3 rotor.

Hi guys,
Glenn here from www.4rotor.com (also a good friend of Allistair's at www.evil7.com).
The 3 rotor PP shortblock is around USD$22,000, the car does have nothing but the best thrown at it.
The 4 rotor PP shortblock is around USD$32,000. (Some think this is expensive, but there is a lot of engineering work that goes into it). There are a few companies in Australia now building 4rotor engines.
You can easily spend USD$20,000 on the MoTeC gear
.ps They are MoTeC CDI (ignition coils) that are stacked up in Allistair's car - around USD$2000 worth. The ECU, connections, sensors are the expensive items.
The guy who does the engines is Alec Bell of www.kiwi-re.com in New Zealand (have a look at his website). The guys that are putting the cars together are Ezio and Alessio at www.cityperformancecentre.com in Sydney (some more pics. of Dennis' car there).
Ezio does the tuning of Sammy's 7 second FC in the US, and also the tuning on Dennis Marquis' car. Ezio is one of those guys that whatever he touches it just works beautifully - the guy is a genius.

For about $12000AUS you could have a short block 4 rotor sitting in front of you. Spend a few more $$$ and you would have a brand new engine sitting in front of you.
$4000AUS on 2 turbos
$1500AUS for HKS GT wastegate
$4000AUS for Haltech E11 and appropriate ignition system
$1500 on twin plate clutch
$25000AUS or there abouts and you will have an engine that will make 800hp and a tonne of torque without much trouble and be streetable to boot. **** PPs on the street.

So yes I could see how you guys over in the USA could spend USD$20,000 on the MoTeC gear

Ok, so lets say 32k for the 4 rotor block what about everything else to build this 1200hp+ motor. Sorry, no one has answered the initial question. Basically what would it cost to build a PP 4 rotor engine putting out just over 1200hp?

Thanks AJC13b. Don't necessarily have to have a PP just want to do it the easiest. Also not even sure if I'll go 4 rotor. Just getting the most extravagant price for a big ponie motor. Probably will be going half brigde 3 rotor. Now I know it won't cost more than 32k aus, or 40k usd. Sound right?

I would love to but probably will come to my senses and won't. There's more to a fast car than just HP and you can have fun with much less than 1200hp! Besides what would you do with a 1200 HP 2nd gen. That's pretty much a dedicated car.

As for the cost , well lets say ive spent at least 50000 US on the car so far . Glen from www.4rotor.com is spot on with the costing of these motors .
As for building these motors for 14000 aussie dollars or whatever it was , your kidding yourself !
At nearly $ 20000 in parts alone for the real deal you would building one mean ******* for that cheap price !
You cant buy Motec here and ship it to the states as the USA reps will go ballistic for not using them , i know it sucks . I guess a freind in Aussie could buy it for you and send it that way . I dont want to get on Motec's bad side so I shall say no more .

Be like everyone else? I don't know about you, but I am sick of tripping over 3 and 4 rotor powered cars when I walk down the street!
The 4 rotor kit from Jeff Bruce is about $4000NZ and throw on another $2000 for the thru bolts, 2 modified centre plates with bearings and associated bits and pieces
4 x new housings @ $800AUS each
2 x mazda seal kit @ $1300AUS each
3 x plates (2 x end plates 1 x centre plate) maybe another $1000AUS
I think Jeff can do a full custom oil system, so throw on another $1000AUS
So thats $12000AUS for a short block. Can anyone argue with those details?
Custom plenum about $1500AUS
2 x GT35/40 - $4000AUS
Custom exhaust manifolds $1500+ AUS
Wastegate (65mm HKS) - $1500
Injectors (4 x 1650 and 4 x 720) - $1200AUS
Say another $1000AUS for fittings, lines etc
$2500AUS for Haltech E11
At max $2000 for ignition system
So add on another $15000 for the good bits and thats $27000AUS for a brand new 4 rotor twin turbo that will be 100% streetable.
Thoughts or comments?
