Plz Don't flame me, got a newbie question

If I was to buy a FD Automatic, and do some upgrades, would I have to have the transmission tweaked to make the transmission take into account the new mods? or would it not even matter? I know it sounds like a dumb question and once I get the answer, I am probably gonna think I am a dumbass becuase it is common sense.

The reason I am asking this is because my friend and I were sitting around talking about my (hopefully) new RX7 and his 300zx...his is auto and he asked me if the transmission would have to be tweaked and I said it probably wouldn't but I would ask.......so there ya go....there is the question.....I am really curious about it also, because for the life of me I can't decide which is right......some reasons I think it would matter, some reasons I don't......so plz answer....

Thanks,
1MRX7

It depends on the mods. Auto is fine. My brother has a 300+rwhp auto. So far if you know how to drive it correctly the tranny will take it. If you want to drag race it then get the auto tranny upgraded. Will cost about $3k to make it a drag tranny. Guess what, it will kick a sticks *** in a drag race. Better off the line and shifts faster. I love stick shifts, but I'm smart enough to know an auto has it's advantages. And yes there are auto drivers out there that know how to drive a stick. My brother has more trophies in his 4-sp '66 Dodge Hemi than most of you are old(30+)
he also has a FC with a V8 Chev 5-speed, he also has his FD auto. Guess which one gives him the most pleasure?

You should be ok if you don't go too crazy. However, another thing to think about is some upgraded computers (which you WILL need if you mod more than a little) don't work with autos. Manual highly recommened unless you have a really good reason not to drive a manual.
