NRS RotorSports ceramic apex seals part 2

I have been aware of NRS Rotorsports ceramic apex seals for many years. I got a good friend of mine to buy a set and install the NRS ceramic apex seals on his 1975 Mazda Rx3 called "El Duke". Jose's best E.T. with other seals was 7.5@178 mph. soon Jose Leduc will be out testing his toy with the NRS Seals.. thanks to Sven Nielsen from NRS Rotorsports for the continues research and development of these great seals. I'll keep the site up to date with the progress of Leduc's Rx3..

mods: 13b full peripheral port
Motec EMS
fuel: methanol with tons of injectors
G-Force
pics of Jose Leduc's Rx3

I thinks he will do exactly that! Jose will be the first to run NRS 2mm 2pc seals in a drag car. With the results we have seen on 1pc seals we are expecting even better on 2pc seals.

I can't wait for him to get these in and running

hmmmm send over 24 of those ceramic corner seals. my 4 rotor needs em.

My 4 rotor will be built and tuned in about 5 weeks from now. With NRS 2mm 2 piece seals. Looking forward to give a report on them. Will do pre start comp test, after running in transmission comp test. And a comp test after the dyno tune. All with a mazda factory comp meeter.

Bdw anyone know why sven's old thread was closed?

^ Yeah and don't cuss him out like the other trouble makers did.

Back on topic. Has there been any testing results with the ceramic corner seals yet?

No testing yet on the C.S. but very soon. Pete with his SP for 2mm and Ernie T for 3mm plus another set-up for 3mm. I have a bit of finishing work to do some more of them and a 2mm set will go to Pineapple for static testing before going into an engine there.

I should have my car up and going in about a month. The apex seals are fantastic. I re-used them and the springs in three times when we refreshed my motor. Now with the NRS ceramice corner seals, I won't have to worry about them sticking.

Who will be the first to make history?

The race is on!! Who will be the first to make history?? The first in the world to run ceramic corner seals. Ernie T, Pete in AU or the mystery test bed (engine built to run 13,000 rpm)?? All are on track for around the same time for completion so either way we will have some results soon

Meanwhile here's a little teaser preview vid of the NRS sponsored 2mm 2pc 4 rotor BMI RX8 time attack car. More vids to come.

I spoke to Ray today from PFS and he is about two weeks away in getting Ernie's engine finished. All the best to all of them for thier hard work and participation in testing something that has never been done. Right now I'm working on making the thicker c.s. springs for more pressure and we'll add these to the mix later on.

Man you should have given me a set. I would of had them running in my car in one day. What takes these fools so long to build a motor? You've had these corner seals in production for what like 6 months ago? And no one has tested them out yet? Damn slackers! No wonder Rotary R&D is in the back of the line.

Well I guess I would have to take partial blame for the tardiness of this project. With some of the issues we had with the slots leaving me short on some of the sets the plans changed a little.

4 weeks from now sven i will have some results for you on my 4 rotor with the 2mm 2 piece seals. Just too bad u did only have 1 set of corner seals available a few months ago. Engine is getting put together this week, and will be put in the car next week.

Yea Jose wasn't sure what to think when I explained how the 2pc design is but once he got them in hand he understood perfectly. This design offers full positive sealing from the get go where as the others require the wedge or the housing to wear/gouge to establish a positive seal.

Hi Sven, have you looked at ceramic coating the oil scrapers? There could be a significant friction reduction there??

If only we could figure a way to make a ceramic side-seal... Then we would be unstoppable!

ceramic corner seals

Looks like Pete is very close lighting this thing off. Here's a post from him on Ausrotary:

I have the engine in the chassis and will run a compression test on it (100% brand new engine)... I might get this done tomorrow, if not def by end of week.

Will E-mail you the figures to the other dozen of RR engines from various customers who all have same porting, CR, but on one piece seal and OEM corner plugs.

It feels much better on the old hand crank so I expect the figures to be a noticeable increase.
