Question Negating Effects to Powdercoating the Manifolds?

I've got my S5 TII Manifolds off. They have been recently sandblasted to reveal a beautiful finish.

If I have them powdercoated, will the heat entrapment be significant? Is It worth doing at a cost of making them look all pretty?

Anyone have their Manifolds powdercoated and would like to chim In?

If anything, you want them to be insulated. The engine bay is likely to be MUCH hotter than the air flowing through the manifolds. So you'd want the heat to be kept out.

But regardless, powdercoating is not known for is insulating properties. It is almost exactly like painting, just a different method of applying the paint.

Personally you should find a ceramic coating place, it isn't a whole lot more money than having them powdercoated(at least around here), but the effects would be pretty good as ceramics will keep the heat away form the engine bay.

j200pruf where do you have things ceramic coated/powder coated?
Are they good and are they reasonably priced?
Im thinking about ceramic coating the inside of my DP/MP and don’t know of any where around here that will do it.
Thanks
David

Although, not relevant, I meant to say I had them soda blasted.

Thanks for the suggestions. Does anyone else have this setup?

I ditched the powder coating project. I used VHT Polyurethane Wheel Paint, Aluminum SP-181.

I know, I know. This paint Is not specific for this application but It came highly recommended from a forum member. If you saw his Engine Bay you'd go

It did him well.

Are you refering to the gross Engine Bay Pic I posted In the 2nd Gen Forum? I hope not. I used that as a reference as to what not to do to an Engine Bay.

Thats hillarious! You'd think my username would have given a hint to the colour of my car.

Anyway, If anyone wants to see the link, It's here. https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...hreadid=210034 Bewarned. This will probabaly be the grossest Engine Bay you'll probably encounter.
