"Eventual winner and newcomer Manny Buginga in his RWD Mustang grabbed the ET record during eliminations with 7.556. Manny B gave the fans a pass they’ll remember with a wheel stand to the eighth mile crossing the finish line with a 7.649 at 185.59 MPH, another first time winner for the NDRA."

This has to do with new NOPI rules.

I guess you aren't into racing so, why did you even open this?

I am assuming this was on the Pro Compact Import or Domestic class, if so we (as in rotary scene) can keep up with that

I thought that the entire reason for that series being created was to create a place where the imports could compete away from the domestics and their V8's. A 4cyl, 6cyl, 2 rotor, or 3 rotor can't compete with a 530ci boosted V8 unless there's some serious penalties associated with running the V8. There's no replacement for displacement. Those new rules really defeat the purose of this series.

I'd think that sooner or later the imports will all be gone, and everything (RWD anyway) will have a huge American V8. If they can't keep it different than all the other drag series I'd think that it'll loose popularity and maybe die out, or at least fade out of the spotlight.

I had posted all about this subject before. Guess what I was thinking happened, the consistancy is what is going to rule this class. Here's the link to my previous thread on this subject: https://www.rx7club.com/rotary-car-performance-77/nopi-allowing-8-cylinders-3-major-classes-2006-a-496422/

So, since they completely changed their classes around. What class is everyone running in?

When NOPI comes to town I'll be running in the Turbo Street Class. I just hope they don't look under my car.
