My Catalact converter has taken a **** and was looking into getting a mid pipe, but was wondering if it will work with a stock ecu?

yup, listen to Rynberg
You can get a cheap catco, from summitracing and have it weld on.
I had it on my car before and it ran fine.

I doubt you have done so with an FD. FC and FB have completely different fuel-metering than the FD.....

Well, I do know a guy that ran a mp and dp with the stock ecu BUT he ran the stock cat back and kept his boost under 11psi.

That engine lasted for over 100K miles...BUT everyone's situation is different so I dont suggest running a mp on the stock ecu eventhough in SOME CASES it MIGHT be ok.

If your determined to do so then you have to keep the boost under 11psi and you need to jump on a dyno and make 3 pulls to check you a/f ratio. It usually only cost $80 or less to make 3 pulls.

Good point, Stephen. A midpipe is acceptable if you can restrict boost to 10 psi without spiking. However, that can be difficult to do. It's usually just safer to tell people not to do it...

MP with stock ECU and stock CAT BACK has worked for a few people that I know.

But it's dicey at best.

If u ruun full exhaust then ur engine will suffer the same demise as 2 of my engines that I ran full exhaust with stock ECU....... 17 psi = kaboooom.
