Question Few Quick Question About IC SPrayers

Alcohol cools better than water, correct?

What mixture is ideal to run for a sprayer? Is 100% alcohol bad?

and what type of alcohol? Rubbing?

Oh and I just added, a rear wiper washer reservoir for in the hatch. (My car doesn't have a rear wiper.) Just thought I'd share for the new guys that haven't seen any IC sprayer threads...

The specific heat of water is about double that of alcohol, which means it takes double the energy to raise the temp of water as it does to raise the temp of alcohol. In other words, when the water is heating up and evaporating it is drawing about double the heat energy out of the intercooler as the alcohol would.

Really? that's interesting. But since alcohol evaporates faster...wouldn't it be good to use a mixture?

Water can absorb more heat, but it will end up dripping on the ground before it can absorb the heat so it doesn't matter.

I think alcohol would cool better, but i wouldn't want a fine mist of alcohol anywhere near me, especially in the engine bay of my car going down the road. Did you forget that alcohol is flamable?

ther is always some one in the pack that does the odd thing, I think thats me, I have a spray bar over my intercooler, it points up into the (a fan just for the cooler) the fan disberstes it into a better mist and back down onto the intercooler, about a 50/50 mix, yep I know it's a time bomb and the out put temp realy drops. got one of those air temp sensors and with a ohm you can watch it fall fast.

Why is that a time bomb...I've been reading other forums...EVO...and some people run 50/50 no ill effects and some people wouldn't NOT think of doing that. Hell, some people just spray windshield washer fluid?!?!?

Some think that some alcohol will corrode the IC...some say rubbing alcohol will no and its not as flamable????? Some many opinions...I'm spent.
