max horsepower from 13bt?

Hi everyone, I am new to this site and have a question on the 13bt? I see many vids of rx3's and rx2's laying down 8 second passes with a 13bt engine- even a 12at. How are these guys getting so much power out of let's say a 13bt? And what do you think is the max horsepower you can get out of a 13bt? Also are most running NOS with the turbo to get these numbers? Thanks for any info.

With turbo alone you can get over 800hp. See the Pica RX-7 (7.37 seconds) and the Anais Toyota Starlet 7.40. Both are turbocharger 13BT engine without NOS and are two of the world faster rotary cars.. For that kind of horsepower I have never seen NOS into that engines. Most N/A engine have NOS. I have a friend that runs 8.98 with a N/A engine with NOS. How much can handle an engine, I dont know. But he injects 400hp in NOS.

I think it's the other way around though. Anais 7.37 in January 2006, they were the first to run this fast in 3/4 chassis.

There are a handful of 13b's over the 1000whp mark and quite a few around the 900hp area... It's a combination of both knowlege and skills from years of experience, unfortunately no one is going to let out a "tell all" about how they got to this point except maybe Ken who's over 900 atm... Look under most 800-900 hp PR car and you'll see a very simple looking setup ... to quote Crispeed, "UPS can deliver all of the parts you see on those cars"

Funny statement indeed, because these days street fast is 9seconds and stock car fast is what you said u want... Buy a performance filter and a complete racing beat exhaust system and you should be within you goals...

Now if thats not enough and you're after Paul Walker kind of fast then call up Nopi and get the new 1/2 race camshaft and "tune the NOS timing and she'll run 9's"

Would a big peripheral ported, twin turbo, w/true duels exhaust, work as a high HP motor?

It's not that big of a secret here. There is only so much you can do with a rotary to make more power. Huge ports and massive amounts of fuel and boost. Anybody who has the money and knowledge of how a rotary works can make a 900 to 1000 hp 13b. All it takes is cubic dollars and the right tune and parts.

Unfortunately its not that easy my friend, it took years for some guys to reach where they are now. It's not always about the money and parts, but you also need the right brain to make it all work to its full potential... If it was that easy then everyone would be at the level where few have traveled

cheers

My build wasn't easy by any means. No I didn't do it by myself, but that doesnt mean I didn't suffer alot of hardships along the way. I went through MANY tuners and so called engine builders before I hooked up with Ray @ PFS. After looking back, making the power is easy, its getting that power to the ground is the hard part. This season I'll be using NRS seals and spraying on top of boost to try and crack some serious et's.

No, you wanna buy that motor? Just makin a fresh motor for summer. Since I'll be sprayin it and running higher boost, I thought it would be a good investment on the NRS seals.

Well if you're having traction problems with a 700+ 13b then what would you do if you decide to go 20b? Could you imagine tring to get 800+hp and heaps of torque safely through the PPG & IRS... Man you're nut, you'll either have to go find someone to build you a set of stronger axles or put a 9" in that bitch

It's not that easy because not very many people have the money for what it takes to make a 1000hp 13b and lets face it there are not alot of people who even race rotaries. It takes years because for most of us who aren't millionairs can't just lay down 20g for a new engine everytime it blows up. You have to save up and then try again with what you can afford.... What I am saying is that if money wasn't a concern it would not take years and years of practice to make the power. You can only port a rotary so much. There is only so much you can do to a rotary engine, the rest is tune, massive amounts of boost and fuel and a **** load of money. Yeah I know it takes a lot of knowledge but lets face it if money wasn't an issue to you, could you build a 1000hp 13b in a reletively short amont of time? I think most if not alot of people who have basic knowledge and tunning abilities could. I know I could.

That was my point, making the power is easy and I am sure it would have been alot easier if you had just won the lottery.

How much money does it cost to make 1000hp? Not alot of people that race rotarys? what part of the country do you live? Man, Do you know who Rafalito is? and what he accomplished with a simple looking "backyard" carby setup? Money doesn't always mean power

I sold the PPG. Gear ratios's sucked for drag racing. As for the rear its just trial and error. Ari makes more power and torque than I do and he doesn't break. He has had his setup for over 10years though. It'll get there, just takes time.
