intercooler upgrade

Looking to upgrade my stock intercooler. I have been reading all the threads and links I can, but am still a little baffled (lots of conflicting opinions). Here is what I am trying to do. I drive my 93 around to work every day, want to make it a little more bullet proof, but would also like to feel confident in not blowing the thing up on a track day. I know, a lot to ask...Any advice on a setup???

Thanks

I don't have a 3rd gen, I have a T2, but I was researching them heavily before I got my T2 instead (research indicated I couldn't afford it)

You probably know all this but here goes, for reliability you want:

Radiator (stock one anemic)
AST delete or replacement (ast explodes and dumps your coolant)
Downpipe (too much heat in engine compartment with stock precat)
exhaust (stock too restrictive)
main cat/straight pipe (stock cat crappy too)
intercooler (stock too small)
air filter (might as well!)
re-mapped ECU (so it doesn't go lean and blow up, which it will with all those mods)
