How many people have run a 125 trap on pump gas????

Just curious how many people have run 125mph or more in the 1/4 on straight pump gas???

If you have, what set up do you have and how much boost were you running?

I ran
1/8 - 98
1/4 - 125

I'm just trying to see what other set ups mine compares too at the track. I was running the new BNR twins and 18psi of boost.

I was baby'n it BIG TIME cause I'm still on the stock rear end....I was really just trying to get a mph reading and that was it. I was running a full tank of gas, sub, spare wheel/jack, ect ect ect. I could have shed 150lbs with just the fuel and sub. I figure with a really good launch and loosing that 150lbs I'll be around 127. I also have probably another safe 20rwhp in my tuning, my timing is real conservative. I might bump that up for the next time.

Anyway, what are you guys doing at the track on pump gas???

STEPHEN

To be exact--> 11.59@130mph at 20psi with 93 octane on drag radials. At that boost power was 500 RWHP.

125 on pump gas in a twin turbo car? How about 125, period!

Kevin Wyum ran 11.13 @ 125 a long time ago with non-sequential upgraded twins. I have no idea what kind of gas he used.

Nobody else has hit that mark with the twins. What else have you done to your car besides the BNRs? Post your mods please.

Thats pretty much it. I've got all the bolt on's, BNR engine with street port, his new stage 3's, 850/1200 with Walbro pump. I was driving like Mrs Daisy and running 18psi of boost. I pulled out of the hole like I was towing a trailer LOL

Anyway, I made 412 on the same set up and tuning and the power band was awsome. I'm over 400rwhp from 6000 - redline, which is a nice wide powerband.

Here is a link to my dyno graph and list of my mods....
https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...3&pagenumber=2

I know some more of you guys have hit 125+ on pump gas....What all turbo setups you running? How much boost?

Damn, Chris thats some crazy ****...130 on pump lol

Thanks
STEPHEN

I trapped 117Mph @ 10psi, 124Mph @ 15psi. Both on pump gas and street tires (255/35/18 Toyo's) , GT35/40 w/Pineapple Large Street Port.

Smoked my ACT Street/Strip clutch @ 17psi was shooting for a 128Mph+ trap.

This spring I'm looking for 130Mph+ on pump gas, 20psi boost w/Water Inj.

Hey Nocab, on your 124 @ 15psi was that on the PFC or mech gauge? I was running 1.14 on the PFC....what were you running on the PFC?

I never know what to tell people about my boost. I was at 1.14 PFC and right at 18 on the Autometer gauge. My gauge tends to be about 1-2psi higher than my PFC

Wasn't looking at my gauge, but my Blitz SBC-ID said 15.0 - 15.2psi peak and the PFC read 1.02 - 1.04. I made multiple 123 - 124Mph passes that day at 15psi, hence the slight descrepencies.

I would have to pull the slips to get my 1/8 mile traps.

Oh and I was definately babying it out of the hole, my best ET of the day was 12.1 on one of the 124Mph passes...hahahah

LOL, that sounds like me...well mines even worse. I only made one pass and it was the first pass ever since getting my car back...before going down it was seq and around 340 so we're talking a big change LOL

My first pass was a 12.3 @ 125

I think with a burnout and a slightly hard launch I can improve on the mph some and definatly on the ET haha

Thanks for the info man,
STEPHEN

Dude a 92 1/8 and a 124.8 1/4 doesnt line up....you spraying the long end of the track or what???

Also if you ran a 124.8 you were making more than 420fwhp....more like 420RWhp. BUT the 92mph 1/8 is pretty consistant with 420fwhp which would be around 355rwhp....Also, that 1/8 mph lines up with a 12.2 1/4 which is what you had.

Everything goes together except that 124.8.....sounds more like it should be about 115-116.

I dont get it

The car was a daily driven 88 TII with a secondary BP 13B motor! It had 8.5:1 rotors with 3mm apex seals. T-70 turbo with HKS wastegate.
It was a blow thru carb(holley) set-up.
For some reason all the blow thru carbs I've done can run more boost on pump gas safely than if it was EFI.
On 93 octane it's best run on the dyno at 20psi was 510RWHP and 615RWHP at 32psi with 116 octane.
Believe it or not the owner would run up to 22psi on 93 octane and never blew it up!

Chris, quick question if you dont mind since your looking at this thread.

Is the pump fuel limit boost related or really power related. In other words one guy might be running 20psi on pump and making 430rwhp and another guy might be running 20psi and making 510rwhp like in your case lol. Does this mean it would be more dangerous for the higher hp car versus the lower hp car? Or is the danger the same either way just cause they are both running 20psi. I would think it would be more cfm related than boost pressure related.

Might be wrong though, can you please clarify for me?

Thanks man,
STEPHEN

Stephen!
My 60ft was only 2.04s. I also have only 10psi boost until middle of 3rd gear, then the car really starts to accelarate, have 7600rpm on 4th gearwhen i cross the line. My turbo is a Garrett GT-40 A/R 0.96w/integrated w-gate which is locked almost open and a 42mm separate w-gate,as you can see this is not so ideal. The block is from-1975 and has a large streetport and exhaust port. Also the car is not a fd it is a -83fb. Hope to sort my w-gate problems this year, any suggestions how?

From what I've experienced it's boost related.
I have buddies with Supras that believe the same also.
A BPU supra can make about 400RWHP at 18 to 20 psi and others that are modified will make well over 600RWHP at the same boost.
Every particular combination will give different results though. With the right combination anything is possible.
Porting, intake temps, coolant temps, ignition advance, A/F ratio and compression ratio are just some of the factors that will affect how much boost you can run on low octane.

Yo Crispeed
-nice to see you back on here.....

Thanks Vosko....
11.59 @ 122.12mph w/ 96.31mph in the 1/8 on Nittos drags with stock motor/ turbos running 1.08kg/cm2 on PowerFC but really almost 17psi on gauge.

And Yes ! I launch @~3.5krpm and after that I drive it like its stolen !!!!!!!

Car is tunned for 18psi now and I will soon improve on those numbers

Anything near 120mph or higher is impressive for any pump-gas street car !!!!
