Holly fuel pump

Anybody ever tried to use a Holly blue, black, or red fuel pump on an injected Rx motor? I know that they do not recomend this type of pump for an injected motor but they usually base those recomendations on the requirments of big V8 motors. I saw one being used on an ITS FC but didn't get to talk to the owner to see how it worked for him.
Thanks

They're not suitable for that sort of pressure.

They are designed for pressures under 15psi but put out huge volume. I wonder if they were a trick set-up for the FC's in ITS. If I remember right, before you could change the ECU's to one that will fit in the stock ECU box guys used to lower the fuel pressure to lean things out. I wonder if the low pressure pump was being used to get around fact that the stock regulators get unreliable at low psi.

I doubt they lowered the fuel pressure by 20 (+-) psi. Stock fuel pressure is damn near 40. Fuel injectors would have a horrible spray pattern and would not atomize the fuel at 15 PSI. Don't the ITS boys run Weber carbs anyway? They need a huge 3-4 psi.

Anyway, holley red peaks out at 7 or 8 psi, and the blue at 14-15 psi. Not sure on the black, but I'll bet it wouldn't be anywhere close to the amount of pressure needed for fuel injection.

They don't even really put out that much volume anyway.

If you are really worried about it, you can get a 255 LPH Walbro for about 100 bucks. Drops right into the tank and it is more than suitable for fuel injection up to 400 or so HP.

ITS FC's have to keep the stock injection, I don't think any of the alternate carb's will work on a rotary. Prodution cars can go carb or injection. I wouldn't think it would work either but I've heard of stranger things working when guys are trying to get around rules!

It will not work.

Those "Holley" fuel pumps are just for carbs.
They cannot attain high enough fuel rail pressures for fuel injection.

Whoever told you you could do that is smoking crack.
