HKS Twin Power?

I was thinking of purchasing an HKS Twin Power Ignition system and wondered if the gains were worth the expense.

It's good for the money. It costs about the same as the Jacobs unit, but it's much better.

It gives you a "hotter" spark, thus helping to burn the fuel better. What's also great about it is that it's plug and play.

Benefits
plug and play, in that no wire cutting is needed with the harness ($10 extra for the harness.)
Fires both leading and trailing plugs,
smaller than all others, easier to find a spot to mount it.
Cost $400 roughly depending on if you know the shop owner.

Jacobs - disadvantages- almost the same cost as the HKS unit, a lot larger and harder to mount, fires only the leading plugs.

that goes for any other ignition system, you would have to buy 3 of each to fire the leading and trailing plugs like the HKS does. 1 for the leading, 2 for the 2 trailing plugs.

I also heard that some of the units, such as the Crane HI-6, burn out the FD coils.

Seems like most of the people interested in the HKS are using it in FD's. Does it also work in FC's with the same ease and results? If so, where can I pick one up at?

I do know that it can be installed in an FC, but I'm not sure if a harness is made for it or not. At the time I had mine installed, it actually came of a highly modded TII, the shop owners car. He had to wire it in like you would with a MSD or crane, but that was about a year ago so I don't know if they have a harness now for the FC. He had one dyoed on a slightly modded N/A 90 model and it showed about a 2 hp and 2 ft/lb gain across the board since if you wanted to do a dyno test, all you have to do is turn it off on the box, do a run, turn it on and do another, after letting it cool down of course. Throttle response is what you can feel, not the 2 hp or 8 hp that my dyno plot showed. Toe in the pedal and the car felt peppy.

I know people who have had the Jacobs, and they liked it; but the HKS definitely seems to be a better buy because it's easier to install and you only need one unit, not 3.

One thing to remember, like I said earlier, you need 3 jacob units, not counting all the coil packs to do the same thing the HKS unit can do. MAybe the fastest street car put the jacobs in before the HKS unit came out and since they had dropped about $1000 for 3 units to fire all the plugs, they didn't want to come off the hip and buy one for $400. I think the Jacobs ina nice unit, BUT the fact remains, it doesn't do what the HKS unit does.

SMALL UNIT, EASY TO MOUNT, HARNESS PLUGS RIGHT IN, AND FIRES ALL THE LEADING AND TRAILING PLUGS. no other unit does this

So the Twin Power makes hotter spark but does not have the coil-killing problems I have heard about with other units?

So if I put some neon on an MSD would you buy it for $200?

nothing that should be considered bad about it. It just doesn't do as much as the HKS unit and finding room to mount it.

I had the Jacobs unit and burned out at least 2 leading coils with it, until it finally fried. Now I have the HKS and have had no problems with it...
