Exclamation Hi-Flow / Nice sounding mufflers???

Hey,
I'm going to build an exhaust system for my TII, and need to figure out what muffler to use. It's going to be a single setup, with ~3" piping.

I was looking at a flowmaster exhaust -- will this sound better than a straight-through exhaust? How much more back pressure will it have than, say, an N1 single?

Any other interesting <not too expensive> mufflers out there that don't sound like the local UBA? (Uncle Ben's Association?)

Thanks!,
Manolis

I also thought about using a flowmaster but other have tried it and the mufflers failed. For just a little more money and better quality than most muffler shops can do goto www.corksport.com. They have a nice SS single catback system for a 2nd gen. And best of all it cost $289.

How do the mufflers fail? I was under the impression that the baffle-plate style mufflers worked OK for rotaries, but...

What's the piping diameter on the corksport exhaust? I'd like something around 3" for the car.

Thanks!,
Manolis

The exhaust pulses are strong enough to cause the welds in the muffler to fail I would guess. Failure by fatique. I know someone using a flowmaster on an 88 N/A but he still has the convertors. The convertors probably dampen the pulses enough to allow the muffler to last.

Will the turbo soften the exhaust pulses enough to work w/ the flowmaster do you think? What's the difference in back pressure between, say, the straight through Apex'i designs and something like a RB / Flowmaster, etc. (baffle-type) exhaust?

I don't know, all I've ever done is the "right click" "save as" thing. They have always played for me. Maybe you could get updates for your operateing system from Microsoft as the wmv is a Microsoft thing.
