Hey guys I'm back... and I have a very important ?

Hey i have not been in here since half a year. My motor blew up so that's why I have not had a chance to post. What happened is that a o-ring blew and waer got in te front housing. Well I am getting the whole motor rebuild. The queston is what should I expesct from the motor when it is finished. This is what she is getting. Whole rebuild , street port, carbon-alluminium filled apex seals, with the springs that go with them. Balanced and blueprinted 460cc injectors. TII oil pump Type 1 stationary gears, street high performance oil pressure regulator, racing beat lightened flywheel, and a rebuilt transmission. With taht also a fluidyne radiator is going to be put on. I am also getting the a/c removed( thats inclding th compressor). The car already had a hks intake racing beat header and silencer and apex dunk exhaust, and a Stage 2 clutghmasters clutch. What horsepower numbers am i looking at and 1/4 mile times. It's a 1990 GTUs. One more thing how high can I take the rpm's to?

It should be close to 150-160 @ the wheels!

It will be higher than 160. that car made that out of the box. And now he has ported and modded. I would have chosen regular apex seals though. Those carbon ones don't seal worth a **** at low rpms. they are too light. If it isn't too late, get the 2mm steel seals. they are a ton cheaper and seal better for street driving.

It made that hp at the flywheel, not the rear wheels. Factor in a 15 to 20% loss to the drivetrain, so around 128-136rwhp for a factory motor.

I would think around 14.5 in the 1/4, Bambam 7 has similar mods on his GTU (not "S") and runs those times, he has a little more mods tho, but same basic engine

I agree .. 150 - 160 at the wheels. That's from experience seeing a lot of N/A's with quite a few mods. Without a bridge or PP, it's hard to get a lot of power out of them.

Carbon seals are kinda pointless on a streetported N/A. Stock seals are fine. Put that extra $1000 somewhere else.

Get hardened stationary gears while you're at it. Some of the other N/A guys can tell you what you need for high rev engines. But do it right and you can run it up to 10K+ rpm's.

20 dollars cheaper....ha

i recently finished my '85 and built a 13b 4 port/streetport and the dealer tried to bend me over for $82 apiece for the stock gsl-se apex seals. racing beat wanted like 38 bucks apiece for the carbons. after realizing that the carbons would be worthless for street driving b/c of the low rpm sealing characteristics...not to mention the 20k mile life expectancy, i went with the stock seals(safe to 8,500 rpm, i seen it!) from racing beat. chris saved me $20 per seal, so for that, i am forever in your debt....with capital one .

hey guys

The typeI stationary gears that I am getting are hardened, and my mechanic told me the engine will last me another 150,000 miles. Just to let you guys know before the motor blew up, my car had a hks intake, RB header and silencer and two custom blitz nurspec exhaust. My best run was a 14.2. And I do have the time slip for that, so after these mod what do you think? Will I be able to ever run a 13.9 with a n/a. that is my goal! And will it be safe to take the rpm to 10,000?

lovely if you got yourself down to 14.2 on the stock ports, 13.9 is not a bad estimation, you may want to consider some stand alone fuel injection, and nos later, you've got some capable **** just dump some pawer into it. not a bad estimation, and yes please rev it to 10,000 but you'll want to modify the fuel curve i doubt the stock injection supports that rpm's, also I've been told tooo many times that you wont make power that high, but hell go for it and let us know.
