Yes, you can header wrap your intake pipe (and manifold if you want). It helps keep the air cooler and there is no downside to it.

if I was to use header wrap on my header is there much chance of the header cracking?

the advantages out weigh the dissadvantages, heeps under bonet temps down and keeps heat in the exhaust, which is good for the turbo

If you have a problem / concern about header rust, get the 1600 degree silicone spray paint that they sell. Its about $4 bucks for a can.

Spray the header before you put the wrap on, and then spray/soak it again after you put the wrap on. This will keep the moisture away from the metal.

I treated my RB header on my 86 header like this about 5 years ago and there is yet to be any signs of rust. I live in PA where they salt heavily during winter.

How dramatic are under hood temps reduced to using Header Wrap?

a good deal. you can even double wrap them and then be able to touch them, while they're hot.
