I know art races somewhat but I've got to say I beat on mine quite a bit more.

I doubt it. How many open track days do you do per year? Road racing is a lot harder on the car than anything you'll do on a drag strip or on highways.

I don't turn so no open track days for me. Lots more horse power and lots more fuel.

Yes I know which was my point. The plugs most likely are just dirty, extremely doubful they are actually unuseable.

Right, and I don't personally have a plug cleaner nor air compressor to run the cleaner. My only option is new plugs.

You've spent all that money on your car and don't have an air compressor? I'm sure you have access to one.

IMO, this is just plain wrong. The plugs aren't defective and it's an abuse of a miss written/poorly checked warranty.

here some plugs available at advance auto: (yes, im really bored at work)

BR10EIX, stock number 6801, $6.99 has to be ordered.
B10EGC, " " 5927, $4.28 has to be ordered.
B11EGV, " " 5831, $6.99 has to be ordered.
above are 1 day orders.

Rx-8 plugs:
RE7AL, dont have stock #, $30.99 available online only.
RE9BT, stock number 6701, $30.99 online only.


BTW anyone out there use all 4 RE9BT's? how good are they? they only come with 3 month warranty. Are these flat faced like the stock rx's?

I have access to one....... I don't have a garage or I would have one. I still probably wouldn't bother cleaning them. Maybe for my lawn tractor but, not my race car.

what sense does it make for the platinum plugs to have a shorter warranty than the standard plugs. I thought longevity was platinums claim to fame.

BTW: Thanks for the info, it's up to everyone's preference whether or not they use it, but thanks for giving us the option.

i do the same thing with brake pads for my 240. I keep going back and getting new ones before they get worn down to nill.

I do this with brake pads in my daily driver, I buy Wearever Silvers, they are like the cheapest pad, but they come with a lifetime warranty.

I think you'd have to be a real dope not to take the free pads.

Exactly, Auto Parts stores offer lifetime warranties on brakepads. Who doesn't take advantage of that? 100% of returns are being replaced for wear, not defects.

I work at NAPA and we don't warranty them. I just may have to go to the competators. Also NGK does not make an Iridium plugs for the 13b, just v-power and lasers. Lasers are definetly the way to go.

Someone should post NGK's spark plug warranty - I would expect it to be focused on manufacturing defects (such as a cracked insulator or such).

Lifetime warranty parts (brake pads, brake rotors, etc) cost more than the "cheap" 1 year warranty version of the same. It's the same part, just with extra cost factored in for the replacement down the road. I personally know that I'm not going to remember where I got parts when they eventually wear out, so I don't bother with them.

Also, if you don't have a spark plug cleaner, a wire brush works too. I try to clean mine ever month or two, and I notice a difference when I put 'em back in.

you guys have to have some nerve to exchange WORN out spark plugs due to abuse and milage as a defect. i cant see how you guys are killing plugs in 2weeks even 2months. the plugs shoudl last you 5-10k miles, if your car is mistuned you should take care fo that first and not keep chaniging the plugs. if you drive like muscle car guys do, 50 mph in the right lane and then when you see a 10 mile staright in front you open it up then it is sad that you own an rx7. then in that case your plugs may get carbon buildup and all you have to do is take them out and wire brush them and put them back in. the electrode only starts to wear down after 5-10k miles, if you are fouling plugs, again there is something wrong with the car and not the plugs. i have yet to see a defective plug from the factory.

It doesn't have anything to do with defective. They offer the same warranty on their brake pads. When brake pads wear out, you take them back and exchange them for a new set. Advanced Auto doesn't care, if it was against policy then they wouldn't exchange them.

My plugs are used in basically a race car. Plugs don't last long in that type of application.

I recently got some from advance auto as well, sweet deal. I beadblasted my old plugs, and they were barely worn down at all. Ohh well...later

wow i just used this thing.... plugs look like new! this is great, as my car is tuned quite rich right now. i cleaned an old set, and am going to install those, then clean the set that was in the motor, that way i'll always have an xtra set on hand!
