FC vs FD intermediate plate materials

Just doing some research, Now i've read that FD corner seals will cause accelerated wear on fc plates due the higher tension of the springs. But my question is what is the difference in side plate materials of the fc and fd motors?

They are both cast steel.
The FD irons have a "better" surface treatment for less wear.
