Dyno test PP on methanol

As i mentioned in the dyno test 13B PP thread i converted to a Ron's mechanical injection on Sunday. The best with carb and gasoline was 280 hp at 9400 rpm. The methanol set up has a variable intake length set up with slide butterfly. The engine started easily with a little squirt of methanol into the trumpets. First the engine rpm was at 2000 with the shut off valve half open and gradually the rpm climbed as the heat build up and the shut off was fully opened rpm stabilized at 3000 rpm with a very even idle. Then we began loading the engine and soon found out that the mixture was very rich (my eyes was tearing badly). the return pill was a 0.084 and the exhaust temperature 580-600 C. The motor took about 2.5-3 litre methanol on a full pull so in went bigger pills (0.098) and the engine responded with a higher 650-670 C temp. Now the output was around 260 fwhp and we decided to lean out some more with 0.102 pills and a set of fresh NGK BP6 ES plugs. At this point we had also raised the ignition to L=28 T=27 degrees. Full pull from 5000 to 10300 gave us 303 hp at 9900 rpm!with a best torque of 222nM at 9400 rpm. the engine sounded more chrisp than with the carb set up and accelarated faster. Now methanol consumption was only 1-1.5 litre after a full pull. We only made 2 more pulls becausse we had only 6 gallons of methanol with us. next pull we tried a little more ignition to L= 31 T=30 degrees and we made our best pull of the day 313 fwhp at 10300 rpm wow! torque 221nM at 9900 rpm. exhaust temp now 750-770 degrees. Last test we pulled out the intake manifold 2.5" and made 305 hp at only 8900 rpm. Highest torque 242nM at 8700 rpm, at 9700 rpm it still makes 278 hp. We were quite happy to see that the methanol set up was worth 33 hp over the carb set up. Much of the gain lies in the intake manifold i think and the higher pressure 130 psi of the Ron's pump. But we are not satisfied with these numbers as the flow bench tells about a lot more hp out of the rotor housings! We will eventually put in 10:0 cr rotors if Mazdatrix tests show any gain in hp. And of course next time there will be an alternator mounted

Very nice, it's really interesting to see how different setups change the overall curve on the dyno, since i can't really afford to do that myself.
I haven't touched my car for about two weeks now, got fed up with it but i think my problem lies in crappy housings and side plates...maybe i shouldn't have ignored that scratch on an intermediate plate the last time i took it apart
