Dyno numbers

I got my '93 dynoed and don't really know how well this is.

200 hp and 170 lb-ft. I'll scan it in when I get a chance so you can see the curve and numbers. THe hp curve was linear and never dropped off. The torque curve was flat.

Here's what I'm running:

7lbs of boost (bad guage fooled me into thinking more)
6000 miles on motor (street port)
Petit ECU
Open exhaust/Intake (Apexi)
Non-sequential
stock IC
pulleys

I think this is close to stock numbers considering I'm only running 7lbs of boost (Home Depot, here I come!)

The stock IC and 7lbs of boost are destroying my numbers. The engine runs super rich, so more boost might change that?

If he is running non-sequential he shouldn't need any vacuum hoses.

how many miles are on those turbos? Even on stock twins on a completely stock car, a healthy rx7 should be doing 10 psi

Hi,

yes, the vacuum lines are zip-tied. The turbos have about 6000 miles on them as do the engine(Rotary Specialties in Canada for the engine and Mazda turbo rebuilds with ported wastegate). Yes, they're non-sequential.

This is horsepower at the wheels. It's running 7lbs because there isn't a pill or a boost controller on the wastegate actuator. BUT, I wanted them to crank the boost so I have something to work against the baseline. I didn't get a chance to talk to the guy dynoing the car because I wasn't allowed to walk back there to say anything to him (KD Rotary). I also wanted to video tape it to put it on the net and show my friends. Sort of sucks because I really wanted to see some numbers and real tuning.

I have the dyno sheet, the torque curve was a little bumpy but the hp curve was practically 1:1 all the way up until he let off. That's incredible.

I'll try to get the slip up at http://staff.kutztown.edu/tpham/

I thought I had stock boost levels, so I was expecting ~240 hp.

Two things killed my hp, the boost and the stock intercooler. Right now, I probably can keep up with stock RX-7s... that explains why that LS1 Firebird was 1/2 a car length a head of me the whole time. Go figure.

I think your numbers are about right for 7 psi with mods. Get the boost up to about 11 PSI and things should look much better.

Thanks. I cranked the boost to 12 lbs and it's a totally different car. Feels like I first got it.

Anyone use the G-Tech pro? My friend has it on his Mustang and there's a tach and other cool goodies. Curious how accurate it was. He told be the gtech was 4 horsepower off the dyno run he did. That's not too bad.

He had 270 lb-ft of torque and 230 hp and our cars were even until I shifted into 3rd and drove by him... that's with 7 lbs of boost!!!

Now I just need to save some dough to do another dyno run... I wish there were cheaper.

Also, anyone know if Chris Rado has a shop in Reading, PA I can do dyno runs at?

I bought one (G-Tech pro Comp) last month before adding a new flywheel and doing some dyno tuning. I have found it to be very accurate for times, speeds, and RPMs. When compared to the dyno, it consistently ran about 10% less due to the fact that it figures in wind resistence, and the drag caused by the four tires to give a measure of actual functional horsepower while underway. It did measure the difference accurately following the flywheel installation. It is important to get your weight accurate to get good numbers...but this is not difficult with minimal effort.
